Heater circulation issues
In one of my 82 300DTs the heater isn't working. I have replaced the brushes on the blower, the climate control unit, the monovalve, thermostat, radiator, and water pump all to no avail. Where should I turn next?

'85 300TD charging system
Hello,
I suspect I have a charging deficiency in my '85 300TD(230K miles). To-date I have replaced the brushes/regulator, belts, replaced dash light and cleaned bulb holder. Voltmeter testing at the battery shows 12.5 vdc at idle, 13.5 vdc at 3-4K rpm.
The dash light will not light at all, but shows continuity from the multi-pin connector across the bulb circuit with holder in place.
As far as symptoms go: I occasionally (once every six months or year) find that the battery is low and will not turn the starter. The climate control system does not react to any setting less than full on or full off and the heater motor takes a few minutes of driving to start blowing.

diesel oil requirements in the 1980s
hey guys received my manuals the other day. well written and helpful. i guess i got lucky with my 240d buying it with limited MB knowledge.
i do have a question as to what types of oil was mercedes requireing for oil changed in the early 1980s. my owners manual states that the car had regular maintanece (it shows 73k on the odometer but is has quit working) the oil changes were performed with castrol 20w 50 not exactly a diesel motor oil. these were done at authorized service ceneters . was this the best choice for oil back then? could this be the reason i have a lot of crank case pressure on an engine with less than 100k?

Manual Trans Oil
I was wondering if anyone knew what type of oil a 1983 240D stick shift trans takes. Does Mercedes have a particular type of oil that they want used like their coolant? Or can I just use any type of higher quality manual trans oil?

81 240D 3 Water Pumps In 6 Months
Hi--- I have an '81 240D fitted with the 2-tank Greasecar system. Don't do too much of my own work, but I'm using the 75 MPH Guide to keep Anna happy and healthy. So far, so good... but, I've gone through 3 water pumps in less than 10,000 miles. The 1st was the original, so I new that would happen. And it did at exactly 120,000. Had it replaced with a Bosch, which promptly failed. Had it replaced again with a German pump, the name eludes me. Well, this pump also failed and I'm having it replaced with a Mercedes pump. Fortunately, this is all warranty work.

hey there...i have an 85 300td wagon...the front driver side window is inoperable...i tried replacing the switch...no change...the motor in the door makes the usual noise when i use the switch but the window doesn't move...i am assuming it is the regulator...could it be the regulator AND the motor???...any wisdom is appreciated...

Cleaning a diesel engine - 1985 300D turbo
Going to attempt to clean the engine. Most of the goop and gunk is on underside. Probaly will find more issues once cleaned.
I am thinking of using degreaser and pressure washer shooting from bottom up. Any particular area I should stay away from when cleaning underside of motor? (alternator, etc)
Any secrets?

Water pump repair - 1985 300D turbo
It is time to replace the water pump. Before I remove the pump, any suggestions on a cooling system flush? Since I have to drain cooling system, maybe I should perform cooling system flush first.
As for new coolant, I assume I need to purchase from MB dealer?

Heater blows hot, very hot.. all the time
Hello, ( 1982 300TD )
Yes, when I turn on my climate controll, my heater is on- invariably, if I jog the little blue/whit/red wheel to blue it stays hot, and not just hot, but unbearably hot, I have to turn it off... any thoughts on the culprit?
