Very sluggish '77 240D
Recently purchased a '77 240D. The car is very sluggish (0-60 mph in about 30 minutes). Anyone have any tips on how to get a little more pep out of it?

I bought a Bosch Duratherm glowplug upgrade kit off of Fleabay since Kent was out(same as this one : https://mercedessource.com/node/691)
At any rate, I get the box and on the side it says W123D 08.80- which
to me means from August 1980 on. Well my 240D was born in March
1980. I do have my 1982 parts car in the garage and it does have a
different glow-plug set-up than my 1980.
I could cannibalize the parts car glow-plug setup and transfer it
over to the 1980 recipient car as it will eventually get the 1982 motor
as well.
I have an 85 300 CD with an 83 engine, my problem is that after about 25 miles the engine starts slowing down and then stalls like it runs out of fuel. let it sit 10 minutes or so and it will start again and run fine for another 25 miles and do the same thing again. will run all day at an idle it only does it at highway speeds. Anyone know what is causing this?
thanks for the help
I have a 79' 240D and have been doing the maintenance on the sun roof as per the Mercedessource kit. I have found that the air dam has a bit of rust on it and I wanted to remove it and clean/treat it with the anti-rust paint but I am unsure as to the best way to remove this. I am afraid of breaking it if I force it. Does anyone have any sequence of steps used to properly remove the air dam??? Thanks.

Kent,
What is the fluid type for the rear suspension of a 79 300TD wagon?
Thanks,

I have a 1977 240D. My wife was driving and ran it out of fuel. I have added fuel but, it won't start. Any tips on how to get it running again?
I bought a 1978 300CD with 250K miles about two months ago. So many problems and I've never worked on a diesel but my income is too modest to afford a mechanic. I'm just a humble computer guy. Okay, enough blathering. Recently, the power assist on the brakes gave out and, simultaneously, the car wouldn't shut off when I removed the ignition key. I have been told that I need to rebuild the vacuum pump. After a week of manual braking (that thing's a beast to stop) and manually choking the engine when I get to my destination it's developed a new problem that is far more devious.
im selling my roll top console on ebay and just wanted to tell you guys about it to get some exposure, as its not something that many people search for....i know its a sin to post links to other places, so just go there and search 126 console zebrano ...thanks guys, hopefully this post will last a few days
I have a newly purchased 300cd non turbo that has a significant exhaust leak from the top of the manifold. Do these run gaskets on the exhaust side? I could not find them listed online. Are these prone to cracking and warping, or should a gasket do the job? Should I bother trying to retorque everything on my badly leaking gasket?
I just bought an 84 300TD (Yes, the wagon) and I really like it. One thing that I don't like is that the fuel guage is not working. It jumps all over at times, and at other times it will stay all the way empty (after I just filled it up) or all of the way full. Not sure if this is related, but when I fill it up, I have to put fuel in very very slowly (~.5 gal per minute) otherwise the filler fills with foam and shuts the station pump off.
