For those of you who have been following the “Operation Save Digby” series you will be happy to know that Digby is getting a new “heart.” When successfully out of surgery, Digby should be able to live well for another 20 years. (If you recall we owned and sold Digby 20 years ago)

If you have not watched the series, here is the link to the full video playlist on YouTube. What an adventure it was and what a surprise to finally find out why we just could not get the engine to run smoothly at idle. When watching the series you will learn the steps we took to find the problem and what you can do it prevent it from happening to your own diesel engine.

If you should ever need to remove a diesel engine from an older Mercedes Joel and I have written an extensive CHECKLIST on all the steps needed to to complete the job in your own garage. Here is the link to that checklist. Feel free to print it out and save it for a future transplant.

And just yesterday Joel and I filmed a video explaining all the work we did on the used engine BEFORE putting it into Digby. Most of these jobs are much easier done out of the car, but most of my instructions are written or filmed with the engine in the car. Even if you are not doing a “transplant” you should seriously review this list. At the end of the video is an extensive list of links to all the parts, kits and instructions for diesel engine repairs.
