This is an amazing story I thought I would share with you. We never know where some of the specialty used parts we have will end up but in this case we are glad we found out! We recently received this very interesting email from a customer who purchased an old NOS sunroof air dam I had for years stored away in my shop.
“Hi Kaia, I’ll forward a few pictures of the car receiving that (just shipped) W126 sunroof wind deflector from Mercedessource. It was important to me that you were selling a NOS part, and I thank you all for it. The 420 SEL in my shop requiring this replacement sunroof wind deflector is a special one. It is the Mercedes-Benz awarded as a gift to Joe DiMaggio by the New York Yankees on the 50th anniversary of his 56 game hitting streak .. a record still not broken to this day! The 1991 420 SEL was presented to Joltin’ Joe by the Yank’s at an Old Timers Day event held at Yankee Stadium in 1991."
This car (and newly installed wind deflector) will be be kept in a museum one day - this for the ages, and for all baseball fans to admire.
