If your glove box won't stay closed due to a broken plastic panel inside, then this is the part you may need to fix the problem. The latch inside this panel is mounted on a plastic pin, and when this pin breaks off, there is no good way to repair it. If just the end of the pin is damaged or the clip has fallen off, then you can repair it with the methods outlined in my repair kit ( see related products below.  None of us likes our glove box, and we are scaring our door flying open!

Product Details

As you can see in the picture below, the pin and latch mechanism are in excellent condition. - But the plastic holes for the bottom nuts have rounded out, as you can also see. Kent came up with new custom-made machine nuts to solve the problem of the large plastic holes in most W123 glove boxes. That hardware and the special screwdriver for these nuts are included with the used panel.

Here is what those new custom-machined nuts look like compared to the originals.  The original is shown first, followed by the upgraded version to keep the hinge tight after adjusting the door gaps.

Here is an inside panel with the plastic in the hold broken away.

Here is what it would look like mounted to the dash.

In early 2024, Kent decided it was time to come up with a solution. Almost every W123 is plagued with this problem due to age and usage. Kent decided to custom machine a new collar nut with a locked-in wide washer under the nut that will cover the hole and tighten the plastic liner.

And this is what the two custom nuts look like installed. The washer is big enough to cover the hole, and they "suck" down the plastic tight to the front of the glove box door so the hinge stays tight, the door alignment does not shift, and the panel rattle is eliminated.

The included custom tip screwdriver will allow you to easily remove the original round nuts and install and tight the new hardware after adjusting the door closing gaps.
