This is a VERY common maintenance item on the older Mercedes V8 engines. If they are too old they will leak. If they are not put on properly they will leak. If you do any maintenance (ie, valve adjustment, clip replacement, timing chain, guides, etc), you should have this kit on hand. Do not use the old gaskets and sealing washers or they will leak! This kit will fit all M116 3.5, 3.8, and 4.2-liter V8 engines from 1969 to 1991 350, 380, and 420 models. All M117 4.5, 5.0, and 5.6-liter V8 engines from 1971 to 1991 450, 500, and 560 models. As seen on Cherry. CLICK HERE to watch the full video series on Kent’s R107 rolling restoration.
- 2 high quality and tight-fitting valve cover gaskets ( some of the cheaper ones will LEAK!)
- 8 new copper sealing rings for hold-down bolts
- I pair green gloves
- 1 lint-free DuPont cloth to clean sealing lip
- 1 acid brush (not shown in video instructions) - use to brush dirt away before removing valve coversFr
- Free video instructions
If you don't want the new gaskets to leak, we highly recommend you use a small beam style torque wrench. This is the most accurate type when working with low torque settings. See related products below:
