Side Trim Strip Removal and Red Trim Clip Replacement - On Demand Video

Replacing the red clips with new ones is the only way to get the trim to fit tight.

The side trim strips beginning with the W108 Chassis in 1965 and ending with the 123 chassis in 1985 were all held to the body with the same method. When the side trim works loose, gets dented or bent, or when you have to remove it to paint, repair or detail the body you can run into some real frustrations trying to get it back on.

Product Details

Kent believes there are two things that are KEY to a successful removal and replacement of a side body trim strip. First you must prevent chipping or scratching the paint. This can quickly lead to a rust spot that will grow into a rust hole if not attended to. Secondly, you must replace the red plastic clips that hold the trim strip onto the body. If you don’t replace them the strip will not fit up tight to the body and will collect dirt and stain.

In this video Kent will cover the following:

  • How to properly remove the strips
  • The proper tools to use
  • How to remove the red clips from the body holes without chipping the paint
  • How to remove the red clips from the side trim pins without damaging the trim strip
  • How to properly install the new red clips into the body
  • Detailing the paint under the strip
  • How to properly install the side trim strips without bending or denting them

These procedures apply to the following chassis: W108, 109, 114, 115, 116 and 123 from 1965 to 1985.

Please note that this video is included FREE when you purchase our trim clip set of 30 with special tool.
