84 300SD transmission governor screens

I would like to check and clean the governor screens in my 84 300SD transmission, but have no idea how to go about doing it. I think they can be accessed near the filter, but don't know anything about transmissions. Any suggestions? Are there any books or manuals available to teach me how these transmissions work and how they can be serviced and repaired?

Thanks for your help - Steven

85 300SD Aux Fan will not turn on when pressure is high

I have been experiencing a couple of problems with the AC. One was the compressor clutch "cooked itself" resulting in it being replaced. After it was replaced I noticed the aux fan was not ever coming on and the clutch still has moments where it is not completely engaging and is partially engaged resulting in it heating up. I have troubleshot the aux fan down to the resistor used for a slower aux fan speed. It appears to be open and should be replaced. Could the failing of the aux fan cause the slipping of the clutch and how difficult is it to replace the resistor?

Thanks

1984 126 300SD Courtesy Dome light misbehaving

Hey guys,

My dome light (one right above the rear-view mirror) will not come on (in any of the positions) when the doors are opened in the car. The door lights that are on the bottom of the doors do operate as expected so I suspect the switches that detect the open door are working. I can turn the light on by rolling the knob to the "on" opsition. Is it safe to assume that the platic light assembly needs to be replaced? Can I clean the contacts? Is it two different bulbs?

1981 300SD alternative air intake

Many of us with older turbodiesels are just plain tired of having to replace the air cleaner bracket, and especially the mounts that hold the air cleaner in place. I've found a possible alternative that COMPLETELY REPLACES THE ENGINE MOUNTED FILTER HOUSING AND BRACKET with a K&N filter on the end of an intake tube attached directly to the turbo inlet.

The rules prevent me from including a link to another website, but I suppose the rules do not prevent stating the other source. It's Wade Performance Products.
