'84 300TD engine shudders while in park ??
Ok. I'm having some trouble determining what is going on after I've driven the car for a while then place it in park.
I get 1-2 seconds of shudder, followed by the same of smooth idle. If the same thing happened while stopped at a light, I might think it was idle speed/fuel delivery related (and it may still be). And occasionally after a spirited run, the engine will shake pretty good when I come to a stop, but smooth out pretty quickly.
But when I put the car in park it's a very quick shudder without much rocking like I get when I just stop in drive.
Any thoughts?

rear axle type?
I am trying to find new rear axles for my 1983 300d. I know that they are refered to as can style, but all of the places I have looked call them either annular or homokinetic. Does anyone know what the technical name for the can style rear axles are? Thanks for the help!!!!

Coolant Resevoir W123 1982 Turbo
Hi Kent,
I just installed the thermostat on my '82 W123 Turbo and the installation went smooth and easy (except for breaking off the radiator drain plug - got a new one from the dealer). Now I'm at the point of refilling the resevoir with coolant (50/50 mixture with water) and I understand that the capacity is 13.2 quarts. So far I've only put about 4 quarts of coolant and the entire coolant resevoir looks full. Ugh. What have I done wrong, and what do I do next?
Thanks much,
Brook

84 300D Turbo oil leak
I have an oil leak on my 1984 300D Turbo in the area of the turbo oiler pipe behind the motor, below the valve cover gasket. I am just now seeing it since the engine was covered in oil and I have washed it down several times and have finally found the originating point of the leak. Unfortunately it is tough to pinpoint exactly since that are is so tight. The oils is dripping down the rear of the engine and on to the transmission. Is it common that the pipe may have sprung a leak from chafing in that area or is it possibly something else? It is definitely not the valve cover gasket.
