84 300D to 83 300D
I'm doing an engine swap from a 84 300D Calif. to a 83 300D Calif.
It appears that the 84 has the tach sensor on the injector pump where the 83 has it on the TDC transmitter. Will the tach work properly when I change the engine?

I test drove 1984 300D with 240K miles showing. She cranked and idled for approx 15 minutes. The dealer alerted me of sluggish acceleration. This was an under statement. I got her on the road and she barely made second gear, so I floored it, engine rev'd higher, pedal to the metal produced maxed speed of 45MPH. Easying off the gas seemed to help shift gear. I ran out of road, brought her back and same thing. asked dealer if he had any ideal what was causing the problem? He says... Fuel filter or maybe the turbo is going/gone bad. Question...
The cruise control on my 85 300TD used to work intemittently, but has not worked at all for a few months. What are the common problems which cause it not to work?
I'm having a heck of a time breaking loose the two bolts that hold the starter to the engine block (i.e., the two bolts that require an Allen wrench). They're in a very awkward place (especially the top one), and I don't have enough clearance to use a cheater bar. Any recommendations on how I can get them out?
Thanks!

I have changed the oil on a diesel 123 for a friend and after pouring in the new oil I checked the stick and it was instantly black! Is there a remedy? Perhaps a detergent to flush engine?
This question has been driving me crazy since this summer.
The A/C on my car works fine until I am forced to slow down or come to a stop, when this happens the A/C quits blowing cold and starts blowing extremely hot air, hotter than the highest heater function. My theory is that the phenomena happens in conjunction with a downshift in the transmission but beyond that I don't know what to do. The dealer wanted to start throwing parts at it but that can be very expensive without knowing. The compressor seems to be ok.
Help would be appreciated.

For a couple of years I've seen your notice about the weak Behr radiator neck and the suggestion to fix it with your repair kit. But it would never happen to me, right?
Last week I found what I thought was a loose clamp on the neck of the radiator. When tightening the screw the hose came off in my hand taking off the first inch or so of the neck with it! Digging out the small end the neck from the inside of the hose I ordered the repair kit from you and made a very successful repair.
Thanks for coming up with that kit-you saved me mucho bucks and aggravation I don't need.
Despite replacing the windshield and rear window seals, the door window seals and the sunroof seals, water still puddles on the floor of the front passenger compartment. I have looked at the drains under the hood hinges. They seem to be clogged but I can't get a wire very far into them and it seems impossible to blow them out with compressed air. Where do they exit? Can one clean them from the underside? The repair manual on CD I got from Mercedes is no help. A lot of the information (visuals)on that CD is very bad quality. Where else should I look for possible water entrance points?
Hi, all.
Three times that I attempted to start my car today, the engine didn't turn over right away, and I heard a spinning sound. Would it be safe to assume this is either the solenoid or the enitre starter motor?
Thanks!
