Rough idle after warm up 1985 300D
I bought this car Nov 2004 and it had a rough idle when warmed up. In an effort to solve this I set the valves, replaced the injectors with rebuilt ones. No help. Meanwhile, and for other reasons, I installed a rebuilt engine Jul 2006. By Sep 2006 it too was idling rough after warm up.
Once again I verified valve settings and replaced the injectors with rebuilt units. I also replaced and adjusted the damper bolt, replaced the the motor mounts, transmission mounts and the engine shocks. No help.
In Jun 2007 I went all out and put in a dealer supplied rebuilt injection pump. No help.

1980 300D engine temperature
My 300D runs right around 85 degrees in town, but when I get out on the highway and travel at 75 mph for more than an hour or so, the temperature gauge creeps up to between 95 and 100 degrees. Is this problematic? On that note, how do you guys feel about Zerex G05 coolant? Hard to find Mercedes coolant in my neck of the woods.

1983 300D Turbo Diesel Differential Cover
I have some leakage around the diff cover. I was not able to ascertain whether there is a gasket or just a type form-a-gasket is required. Thanks, Bill

84 300D Turn signals won't cancel by themselves
My turn signals won't cancel for me on either a right or a left turn. I have a full head of gray hair and am trying to avoid the stereotype of "old man in old Mercedes driving down the road with the blinker on". ;-) Any suggestions?

Diesel Fuel Lubricity
I just bought my first Mercedes a week ago. I have seen and heard quite a bit of discussion about the diesel fuel lubricity of the new low sulphur fuels. Naturally, opinions I have found seem to range from "Hey, it's no big deal", to predictions of doom within the next 12.5 minutes, none of which site any decent sources for their information. The standards of fuel production specify lubricity, but there seems to be some scepticism about how closely the refiners and distributors are adhering to those standards, and for that matter, whether the standards meet the needs of diesel engines.

1983 300D Turbo 722.3 Brake Band Question
Ken,
Is it safe to assume that any new B1 brake band replacement as part of an overhaul would be the newly designed lower friction coefficient band, or does this need to be specifically ordered from MB?
Thanks,
Bill

1983 300d Slow initial acceleration
Kent,
We just moved from Seattle to Colorado. 6200+ altitude. My 1983 300d accelerates very slowly from a stop, but once it is going about 15-20mph, it seems to perform just fine and cruises at highway speed very well. It has been a little slow to start and once and a while idles rough at the start. On my trip here, on some mountain passes, I had it to the floor, but it still could go 70-80mph up the mountain.
So, what would be the order of steps you would recommend to improve this situation? I just got it and have not purged, adjusted valves, or anything yet.

1983 300d Heater only blows hot, no outside air
Kent, my 300d (1983) only blows hot air no matter what setting I have it on. I replaced the monovalve...but no change. Any idea where to start? I have searched the internet forums before coming to you, but this does not seem to be a common problem.
cheers,
