My '84 380sl came out of California and has pre-catylitic converters. If not using the smog pump, is there any reason to have pre-cats when replacing the main cat?

Better ride for 83 380 SL
Hi,
My 83 380 SL does not ride well. I replaced the shocks and it seems like it needs a whole lot more as it thumps over rough roads.. What DIY things can I do make my car ride better? I read in this forum that replacing the front subframe bushing is an easy fix and greatly improves ride and steering. Any suggestions?

560SL starting issues
My 89 560 sl suddenly began to skip while running low rpm. Parked the car. Now it will not crank at all. I am getting fire. I poured a little fuel into top of engine. Still did not crank. Went kinda like da..da..da..dadada..da.da.dadada.da..da. Maybe one noteworthy observation is it has progressively been harder to start. I am not very good with tools but this is my car and I want to learn to repair problems. I have ordered a reair manual. Thanks for any response. Ronnie
