I have to push the "Stop engine" lever under the hood to shut the engine off. I have owned the car for 10 years without this happening. It has now occurred twice today. Should I be looking for a mechanical malfunction or an electrical connection?
Best Regards,

I have a 76' 300D that I have to back off of the gas pedal to make the shift from 2nd to third. The 2nd to third shift will NOT happen unless I cause it with the gas pedal. The 3rd to 4th shift works better and will sometimes shift by itself without me backing off of the pedal. All the shifts happen in the indicated spots on the speedo, more or less, the kickdown into 1st operates just fine and the trans goes into drive and reverse with little to no hesitation. Trans has aprox. 175K on it.
Is there a linkage I can adjust to fix this, or is it a sign of my trans slowly going? To my knowledge this year trans did not have any vacuum hook-ups.
Is there a way to adjust the transmission to start in 1st gear rather than 2nd gear without down shifting? Thanks.
Not sure how to explain this, so apologies up front. In the process of repairing my vacuum door lock system I ran into an issue with the front passenger door. It's different than the other doors. It appears that MB designed this door system to allow you to open the door while the other doors are in locked mode. I think there is a part missing on mine (maybe a spring). The actuator pushes (unlocks) the door knob (stem) up, but when the actuator pulls (locks) the door knob (stem) stays up.
