79' 300D Won't start out in 1st gear

Our 1979 300D runs great at speed. We just installed Kent's boost pump kit and it really does help starting and idling and did help a little on power too. I was hoping it would also solve our shifting problem as well but it did not. From a dead stop, the car will always start rolling in second gear (which as everyone knows makes it painfully slow) even if I mash the pedal down. It will do this even if I shift into neutral while stopped then shift to drive just before moving.
We've already done the following to this car: recent valve adjustment, timing chain replaced (has good timing now), recent diesel purge, new filters, fuel lines and fuel strainer, adjusted kickdown rod from throttle to transmission (which did improve the shifting above 20mph to earlier shifts for more power).

Install angle of the Stanadyne filter

I am going to install the stanadyne filter for my SVO/WVO single tank conversion but I was wondering what is the best angle to install it. I was thinking one or two ways 1)Lying along side the wheel well in the engine compartment or get it up in 90 degree angle with some sort of bracket? Laying along the top of the wheel well at an angle will that cause some air to get into the system or will the primer take care of that once the system is full of fuel?

1985 300TD Doesn't turn off

I have a 1985 300TD and i can take the key out and it doesn't stop. If I press the lever on the engine it does turn off. I'm pretty sure the problem has to do with the vacuum system but I don't know how to test it. Could someone please send me a diagram of where the vacuum system is and instrustions on how to test it. I'm also leaking from a fuel injector could that cause my problem?

1982 240D Low oil pressure repair @ home?

So my 240 has low oil pressure at hot idle. Kent's "Diesel Performance Tuning and Repair" says that this is caused by either worn oil pump gears or crank bearings.

I am currently unemployed so I'd like to try to fix this without a mechanic, but I love my car and I don't want to risk f*cking something up royally and ruining it. Would this be the kind of thing I would be able to do myself? I can already do basic stuff like changing oil and I've installed the glow plug relay manual override so I have some pretty basic experience.

1983 300D MELTED "C" FUSE

AN IMAGE OF THIS PROBLEM IS AVAILABLE AT http://www.gosla.com/EBAYPICS/melted.jpg

My car has been sitting for several months now as I've done various work to its engine. The moment came to start the car and it wouldn't start. The horn wouldn't sound. Some lights worked. I believe the problem is that the battery went dead while it was off the road. It's an old battery anyway and I'm about to drop a new optima into it.

While trying to find out why it wouldn't start, I checked the fuse box. All aluminum fuses were corroded. I already have the new fuse kit that is sold here - just didn't get around to putting them in.

1980 300SD Cylinder misfiring while idling

The more I drive this old mercedes the better I like it. Recently I had new motor mounts installed and asked the mechanic that did the work about the engine still rocking and rolling in the engine compartment. He said that one of the cylinders was missing a hit while idling. When it's rev'd just a little it does just fine and on the freeways/hiways it just absolutely purrs. Could it be a glow plug or compression? Any hints would be appreciated.

1991 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel - HELP!

Please help me. I have a 1991 MB 300D 2.5L Turbo Diesel. When I attempt to start the car, it has trouble staying in idle. I have to pump the gas pedal 4-5 times in oder to get the engine to run and have the gas pedal down at least half way to keep the engine running. As the engine runs, there is a cloud of white smoke coming from the exhaust. There is no blow-by, however when I uncap the radiator cap, a froth of bubbles rise after 5 minutes or so of running.
