Loose and Rattling Exhaust System

Failure to replace the donuts could leave your exhaust dragging on the ground!

Kent sees all kinds of exhaust hanger repairs.  Check out this donut - Deep fat fried and sliced radiator hose? Plain with no nuts. He had to admit this one was pretty creative. He has mentioned before about the importance of checking and replacing your rubber exhaust donuts. They do not last forever. In most cases they need to be replaced every couple years and even more often if the car is not regularly driven.

Problem & Solution

Common among these chassis:

W110 W111 W112 Sedan
W111 W112 Coupe
W113
W114
W115
W116
W123
W124
W126
W201

If you see fatigue cracks in the rubber replace before it breaks. Don't remove all the donuts at the same time or the exhaust might fall on your head. Remove and replace one at a time. Best way to remove is to cut them off.  To put new ones on use a right angle pry tool and "twist" the end over the attachment arm as shown.

NOTE: Our radiator hose removal pick tool also works well for installing exhaust donuts.
