will a transmission from a 1981 300sd fit in 1980 280se with a 126 chassis
Hey folks, first time posting, newbie mechanic, just bought a pair of these 1981 300sd turbo diesels, one a (previously) running parts car, the other hopefully a runner, my first cars in 4+ years, my first mercedes, and my first diesels. So, here's my problem.
I'm looking at cobbling together an engine and tranny, a car with a blown engine, and a car with a wasted tranny..
The problem is.. The car with the wasted tranny (300SD) is in Arizona.. The car with the wasted engine (300Dt) is in Missouri, and the available donor engine transmission is in Michigan..
..Oh, and I'm in Ohio, closest to the engine/tranny, but even that's 70 miles from me.
Have a 1990 560sel with 127k miles. Want to start changing the oil myself via the dipstick. Other sites say that it's best to disconnect the ignition coil before cranking the engine over after the change. This prevents too much strain on the timing chain. Have a repair CD but the coil is not behind the EZL as shown on the diagram. Looking for the location of the coil. Thanks.
im selling my roll top console on ebay and just wanted to tell you guys about it to get some exposure, as its not something that many people search for....i know its a sin to post links to other places, so just go there and search 126 console zebrano ...thanks guys, hopefully this post will last a few days
Hi I ordered and received new nozzles today and it was a easy pleasant job replacing them. The old nozzles were in bad shape and very clogged up with black soot/mess. I thoroughly cleaned the injectors with break cleaner and installed the new Nozzles.
I have a line on a 1987 300SDL with about 200,000 on it. Curious what the group's take is on this motor being a good citizen when it comes to accepting WVO as a primary fuel (for a dual tank set-up)
Thanks!

I had the rear end on jack stands and the front wheels on the ground while I was doing rear suspension work (shocks, springs, cv axles). I kept getting interrupted and left the car in that position for about 3 - 4 weeks before I finished and now the transmission feels like it's slipping. I've never had transmission problems and I changed the fluid and filter a few months ago. No fluid leaked while the car was jacked. Was it a bad idea to leave the car in that position for an extended period of time? I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this, any suggestions? Thanks.
At any altitude above 3000 feet my car's transmission shifts roughly, sometimes refuses to get out of second and when it does, will not go into fourth. I discovered this yesterday while on a trip up to Lake Tahoe- did not make for a pleasant experience as one might imagine. Is there a Barometric switch anywhere in the system that might have gone erk, or is there some other problem that might be the culprit? The Trans shifts normally here in the valley, if that's a help.
