Auxillary water pump valve.

On the 80 300sd that I just purchased it had a shutoff valve between the engine block and the tube coming from the auxillary water pump. I have replaced the thermostat and coolant but I was not getting any increase in temp on the hose leading to the aux. pump. I know this has something to do with the climate control so I wanted to see if there was a blockage or if the valve was frozen shut. I used a thermo gun to see the different temps. When I reconnect3ed the hose without the valve there4 was no coolant flowing out so I assume this is where I mite have had a air pocket.

1975 300D Passenger Door Part Missing?

Not sure how to explain this, so apologies up front. In the process of repairing my vacuum door lock system I ran into an issue with the front passenger door. It's different than the other doors. It appears that MB designed this door system to allow you to open the door while the other doors are in locked mode. I think there is a part missing on mine (maybe a spring). The actuator pushes (unlocks) the door knob (stem) up, but when the actuator pulls (locks) the door knob (stem) stays up.

Removing Fading and Stains on Chrome Trim 1982 300SD

I have a 1982 Mercedes 300SD and the trim around the windows looks faded and ugly. It is as if they look like "hard" water stains on all the chrome door and truck trim. I have tried "windex" type cleaner to Bar Keeper's Friend to no avail.

Any tips on cleaning? Do not want to have the replace the trim.

Thanks
Jim

rolled up seat belts will not release

To do some repair work in the rear seat area I took out the rear seat belts. I am trying to put them back in but cannot get them to release. After I removed them they rolled up most of the way and they will not unroll far enough to reach all the attachment holes. The ones I am using are from a 1991 420SEL. What is the procedure to get them to release. Thank you.
