1986 300sdl WVO Fuel Injector maintenance

I have a Mercedessource inspired 2 tank WVO conversion set up in my 1986 300SDL. I have put on 14,000 miles since the conversion about a year and a few months ago. Everything is running fine.

What is the sign that I will see when my Monarch injectors need to be replaced? They have been on for all 14,000 miles. I don't intend to pull them off for the "fun" of it, because quite frankly it is a pain on the 300sdl's (getting to number 3 and 4 requires removal of the intake manifold.) So I want to only do it if needed.

300te 1989

I just bought a 300te 1989 and love it. only problem i've had so far is check engine (changed the o2 sensor and hasn't come back on "fingers crossed" and transmission shifts a bit jerky. sometimes it smooth sometimes it a little harsher. when I'm at freeway speed and floor it and it drops down a gear I really get a good kick. also I've tried putting in neutral going around 50. when I put it back in drive I get a good bump. any ideas out there.

Opinions on 85 300GD engine condition

Looking for opinions on the symptoms of this engine:

Oil consumption: 4 qt 900 miles
Lots of oil in air filter assembly
Oil leaking out of oil fill cap
Oil leaking out of manifold side valve cover bolts
Oil Pressure 7 lbs at full temp idle
Oil pressure 65 lbs at speed (60mph) warm
One con-rod knocking
At idle rod knock not real noticeable
Mileage unverifiable, but supposed to be around 90k

Whaddya think?

85 300TD Alternate Hood Release Fix

I Just Broke my Hood release cable. After I open the hood, can I cut the cable about three feet from the hood end, and reroute the shortened hood latch end over the left headlight? There I could make a loop in the end and kinda hide it on top of the light? I think I can remove the outer sheath and just use the wire to unlock the hood. Please comment on the feasability/drawbacks ..... thanks
