1974 450SL -mechanical door lock problem
My mechanical door locks work well -from the inside of the car, at least. I cannot unlock either doors from the outside, using my key. It looks as if the key doesn't travel far enough do disengage them.) I'm thinking there must be some problem with adjustment of the two long arms that travel from the lock mechanism to the interior door locking lever? This problem is driving me a little batty.
The vacuum locks don't work, either, but I'm thinking that's a separate problem to be resolved AFTER the mechanical locking issue.

Tired 87 560sl due for engine
A while back I purchased a 560sl to join my mercedes fleet. I thought it was a good deal, but it has white smoke upon start up. I am currently doing the repair/replace analysis I began thinking that while I was at it, it would be nice to get a little more horse power out of it. In researching the internet, I found that the sl 560 was de-tuned for the US market, that the SEL/SEC has more horsepower. Also when investigating, it appears that used sel/sec engines are less expensive than the sl motors.

Brake Calipers Interchange W116, R107, W123 ??
Will the brake calipers interchange with the following cars:
1975 280S; 1979 450SL; 1979 300SD; 1985 300D?
They all appear to be the same, is there more I need to know other than the bolt pattern? Thank you.

84 380SL valve train service kit
n/a After installing the new oil tube fittings, I started to remove the cam gear so that I could change the chain guide. After I had the gear about half way off, the chain was so tight that I stopped, fearing that I would not be able to reinstall it. Is there a trick to loosen the chain. I have been going by Kent's manual.
