126 power window failure - whats wrong?

I got a 1983 280se all back and driver windows do not work, only the front on the passenger side. I was wondering if it could be a switch problem and not the window motor since there is no sound coming out of the doors when you hit the windows switch? also, i would like to change the panel where the window switches are because the wood looks deteriorated, any instructions on that? any suggestions will be of great help, this is the first time i put myself up to fixing a car so i will appreciate input. Thanks

Where the hood hinge goes through the body.....

of my 300TD, the hole has been elongated to the point that the clip pops off the hinge arm when I open the hood. Right now, I have the hinge arm through the hole with a big washer and then the clip. The washer keeps things in place enough to keep the clip on and it works. Certainly not a long term fix. Has anyone dreamed up a solid fix for this one? I thought about JB Welding the washer into place, and then I thought again....Any suggestions, sarcastic or otherwise, are welcome. Thanks!

Fixed troublesome 80-81 auto trans for good!

I would like to thank Kent and Kaia for all their help and tech info over the last few years. With the help of their manuals and parts I have been able to fix oils leaks and all of my vacuum leaks trying to get my trany to shift properly.I was told by Kent that an old style trans would work in my car but to make sure to take ALL the linkages from the donar car. Well 2 weekends later and I am back on the road with only a few adjustments on the linkage left to do.

Synthetic Motor Oil and high-bypass secondary oil filters?

I have seen the stickers on peoples' cars and read extensively why I should buy the products. I am wondering if anyone else has feedback or firsthand experience using synthetic oils (ie. Amsoil) along with the high-bypass filter on gas or diesel engines? Please ask if you need more information to answer the question. I am thinking proactively towards - theoretically - extending the engine life even further. I would use the secondary high-bypass filtering and oil condition monitoring to watch for metals/chemical imbalances present as the engine hours and miles continue to accrue.

Dash lights not working

Hi I have a 82 240d and the lights on the dash board wont work. When I turn on the switch, the light will come on that lights up the transmission but the dash stays dark. Because none of the lights come on in the dash, I assume that a circut is broken, and I was wondering how I would troubleshoot it. Also I would like to know how to replace the lights just in case it turns out that they all burnt out. Thanks.
