My 1983 300td has an inoperable tach. It periodically will jump around wildly when the engine is run for an extended period at high rpms. Is this consistent with the wire or the amp being faulty? Is there some good way to determine which is faulty wihtout just randomly replacing both? thanks
I have an 87 190dt that is constantly blowing hot air regardless of climate control setting- on or off. Any suggestions? I have seen threads on other sites that pointed to the monovalve. Kent, if it is the monovalve have you written a repair book for the 201 chassis yet?
What size vacuum lines are the lines coming through the firewall behind the battery? What size line do I need? They are all broken and brittle from the battery leaking. What else might I need to make these repairs? Gary
Just purchased a 1991 300sl, 104,000 miles. No problems to report, however, been reading about electrical wiring harness problems affecting certain model years from 1992-1996. Some report problems with the 1991 model years to 1996. does anyone know exactly what model years, and/or model cars/engines were affected? trying to figure out if I need to start a more detailed search under the hood. Can anyone offer any input?
I have removed the engine & auto trans from a 1983 (built 12/82) 300TD. After removing all bell housing bolts I expected to be able to slide the transmission away from the engine. No luck. It appears to be stuck at about 3/4" to 1" seperation. Is there something I missed to release the trans or does it just need to be pulled apart with more force?

Dear Benz Guru and wise one,
I just purchased a 1989 190e with 152,000 miles.
Here are issues I found out.
1) The power drivers seat do not work. It will only slide forward but not backward, and the upper recline does not move forward.
2) The Left Rear power window do not work at all.
3) The Drivers door does not Lock/Unlock at all.
4) The headlights flash and a clicking sound under the front passenger dash side occurs when unlocking and locking the car with the passenger door lock.
5) The hood and car top clear coat has peeled off. I was thinking of a whole car paint job with Earl Scheib or MAACO auto paint. The original paint color is a light blue metallic. I was thinking of having the car repainted to a light grey color. Your thoughts please.
I am replacing the glass side rear window. My problem is in fitting the rubber seal into the "L" shaped frame that mounts to the vehicle. The glass itself fits into the rubber seal. The problem is in aligning and inserting the rubber seal into the "L" shaped frame. I have tried mild heat, glycerin, soapy water, at least five different brands of silicone spray, and finally electrical cable lube used in pulling wires through conduit. In every case I have used small flat tools in trying to work the seal into the "L: frame. Nothing has worked and this problem is driving me nutz!!
I have a chance to get a brand new 30 gallon drume of spindle oil. Will this burn in my 300D? I was thinking 50/50 with normal diesel fuel? Will it work? Problems?
Thanks!!
I have an '81 240D and it recently started to develop a slight wobble to it at around 35mph and it goes away around 45mph. Any suggestions. Don't beleive it is a tire issue.
