76 300D power steering noise

My mother's 76 300D has started to make a squealing sound when the car is turned. It seems to be temperature sensitive in that it has started and is worse now in the colder weather. It does not squeal when it first leaves the heated garage. My first thought was a loose belt as I had replaced all the belts 2 months ago. I did tighten it, even though it was not very loose. My only experience in pumps going bad is that they start to leak. Can a bad pump start to turn hard and make the belt squeal?

Problem with w116 280S carburetor

I own a 1976 W116 280S that used to run perfectly well but now problem is with its carburetor. Sometimes the float chamber has to be adjusted in order to run the engine and this is happening so frequently that I need a lasting solution to the problem. Otherwise at the rate which am experiencing the problem, I might get stuck right in the middle of nowhere.

head removal on 420 sel

I'm in the process of pulling the heads on my 420 sel, I have everything off and I'm trying to get the heads off the block. Any tricks to remove them. I have at least 2 bent valves from the timing chain rails breaking and the chain jumped 3 teeth on the left head and 5 on the right. Also I think I will pull the timing cover off to replace the chain because there are rail chunks down in the front, cover any good tips for that. thanks Lewis.

Transmission Problems

I have a 1982 240d with an automatic transmission. When I am speeding up sometimes I have to lift up on the accelerator a little when so my transmission will shift into a differnt gear. This is only when I am going about 35 mph and less. Whan I am at higher speeds it works fine. If I dont liftup on the accelator the car will kind of jerk, and then the engine will get really loud. The transmission fluid and filt has not been changed for a wile so I am wondering if that is the problem or if it is worn out. Any information on what this could be and how to fix it would be great.

E300D intermittent hesitation/power loss

'98 300 E TD. Engine hesitation occurs intermittently. Can be very frustrating, leading to total loss of power. Happens at any speed and any RPM, but only happens under load. Burns perfectly clean & smooth, but hesitation is a big problem. Comes & goes w/o reason - might hesitate badly for 5 miles or for 1,000. Might happen every drive & repeatedly for 2 or 3 weeks, and then might run perfectly for next 2,000 miles. WTF?! Have checked for codes, good fuel flow, mass air, etc. Is confounding to all mechanics I've brought it to.
