Upgrading Alternator Amps for DTC

Greetings from Columbus, Ohio. My 1982 Mercedes 300D Turbo Diesel has a glorious Mercedessource DTC system! Only problem I am experiencing is that the alternator can not reliably keep up with the electrical demands. What ampere level would be a good upgrade (150 amp to 300 amp?) and do you have any specific brand/model of alternator you recommend? Trying to eliminate the risk of producing too many amperes as well (if that is even a concern). Many thanks and keep on Greasing! --- Chris Konik

AT Metal Cooler Line Leak

I have an '83 W123 & have just noticed a fast drip coming from the area of the automatic transmission cooler line on the right/passenger side - along the engine & at the very point where the line bolts to the oil pan. I assume that this is the same problem mentioned in the "Alert" section. Question is, aside from the preventative fuel hose replacement, what sort of actual "fix" can be applied to stop & solve the leak? Has anyone fully repaired a leaking AT cooler (metal) line? thanks, Kieran- NJ

Early 90's electrical wiring harness problems

Just purchased a 1991 300sl, 104,000 miles. No problems to report, however, been reading about electrical wiring harness problems affecting certain model years from 1992-1996. Some report problems with the 1991 model years to 1996. does anyone know exactly what model years, and/or model cars/engines were affected? trying to figure out if I need to start a more detailed search under the hood. Can anyone offer any input?

300TD wagon, side window replacement problems

I am replacing the glass side rear window. My problem is in fitting the rubber seal into the "L" shaped frame that mounts to the vehicle. The glass itself fits into the rubber seal. The problem is in aligning and inserting the rubber seal into the "L" shaped frame. I have tried mild heat, glycerin, soapy water, at least five different brands of silicone spray, and finally electrical cable lube used in pulling wires through conduit. In every case I have used small flat tools in trying to work the seal into the "L: frame. Nothing has worked and this problem is driving me nutz!!

'87 300DT with coolant, oil pressure, and fuel guage malfunction

Hi: I have an '87 300DT with the 124 chassis. Has been running fine. The problem: the gauges for the coolant, oil pressure, and fuel all dropped to zero. The combination relay (part 201 821 00 47) is vibrating and making noise. Replaced the relay with the identical part with no improvement. Fuses are all good. I am about to test the sender units for the above guages. Any ideas? Thanks much, Pat
