77 240d oil pressure

I have a 77 240D and was wondering the right oil pressure reading. Even at idle the gauge shows max pressure. I have another vehicle that shows different readings at different rpms. Now I saw a video on youtube that shows the same thing as my car does. Gauge is pegged even at idle. I'm running Shell Rotella 15W40 but will soon change to Amsoil synthetic. I've also read that there are a few O rings that are on the bar that goes through the oil filter that can affect the pressure. Any help would be appreciated.

1977 300D sluggish after warming up.

I'm pretty new at these 5 cylinder diesel motors. Could someone point me to the temp sending unit? My temp gauge does not work and I wanted to start there to troubleshoot. I have not had this car very long, but I did notice that the secondary cooling fan was disconnected as well. I suspect that this is due to past electrical issues with various sensors (if this thing is anything like my 84' BMW) and was disconnected. It also seems sluggish lately after it warms up. However this may due be due to an over tightened alternator belt, possibly causing the heat to go up? (just put in a new regulator and I will check that out today)(this happened on my BMW when I tightened the belt too tight).

#1 Replacing Steering Gear Box / #2 Odometer quit (Not related to #1)

Replacing the steering gear box with a rebuild on a 1982 240D and wondered if there are any landmines I should look out for? I can't find any instuctions except mark a point on the shaft, and it appears to be faily easy. Of course that is why I am especially worried. (Also -how long should this typically take?) By the by...my odometer quit this AM at 248,884...everyng else works. Where should I start diagnosing? IE what is typical cause? I noticed it was slowing down - not accurate (less miles than actual) just before it quit. Thanks

Can't Find 123 Euro Blower Motor Switch

I cannot find a replacement 6 pin fan (4 position: 0ff and low-med-high)control blower level switch ( I am sure it is Switch # 46 Pages 285-286 of the 75-85 Haynes Diesel 123 Book) which is both mechanical (wire) and electrical. It is placed in the middle of control panel's three switches and I know it has a ribbed black plastic with inner metal housing with a decent weight to it. Besides a Mercedes dealer could anyone tell me where I can possibly obtain one? Right now I am jumping the connector to stay warm. This car has no air cond. Thanks.

Vaccuum Problem - suspect Pump or?

I am purchasing a vaccuum tester and Kent's book becuase I likely have a vacuum problem based on these issues: Automatic Transmission shifts too early(fluid was changed); door locks sometimes work -usually they don't; Left front disk brake kicks in 1/4 -1/2 second after right. Lines appear to be in good shape..as well as vaccuum levers on valve cover- but I am thinking could be a main check valve (or other valve) problem. Not sure whether to do the vaccuum pump rebuild kit yet - until I read the book anyway. Anybody else experience these symptoms?

Dead 81 300D - No Start

Haven't had time to troubleshoot this, but I thought I'd throw out the symptoms to keep me away from any dead ends. 1981 300D, 200K: 1. Started and drove car twice in AM yesterday. 2. Sat for 3.5 hrs and then was completely dead- no starter action, no lights, interior lights work, some dash indications, all dying when cranking attempted. Chattering coming from glow plug relay. 3. Given the totality and suddenness of these symptoms, I'm wondering about a short that just happened during this short interval of rest. 4. Tried jumpering - no response, and the cables got warm at the source vehicle.
