1976 300D won't run after engine swap

Swapped bad engine ( timing chain failure) w/ used running engine (125k). Donor engine has been sitting for 2 yrs. Project car has been sitting for 4 yrs. Did the swap w/ mechanic friend who started engine in my absence before I could change filters, flush fuel etc. Car started and ran rough for 5 minutes then stalled. Has started and ran roughly a few more times. Now will not start. Changed filters, cleaned screen, tried to start on purge only, bled lines, replaced glow plugs w/ ones from bad engine ( they were new @ time of death). Wants to fire but won't.

1984 300SD Intermittent Vacuum Loss

Intermittent vacuum loss 1984 300SD : Car won't shut off, no power brakes etc. Goes like that for a few days or more of driving then everything works normally for months on end...Back to the same problem. Occasionally when I'm heading for the engine shut off the car will slowly die before I get to it. Driving me crazy. Building good leg muscles though. Thanks Jon

83 300CD starter engaging problems

My Uncle is driving my 300CD out of town and he called asking if I've had a problem with turning the key and it not starting, which I haven't. The car has always started as long as it isn't in gear, which isn't his problem. He said that it would start sometimes on the first turn and some times it was taking multiple try's. Seems like it might be the ignition switch. Any suggestions on trouble shooting?

1985 300D Turbo, CA mod. w/ trap oxidizer: vacuum line connection

After doing some engine work, I could not get the engine to shut off. I checked all the vacuum lines and connections, which were ok, including testing the fuel shutoff valve and checking the line to it for grease (none). From previous testing, I know that the vacuum pump works well. I thoroughly studied the "Vacuum System Troubleshooting" manual. I noticed that there is one black vacuum line which remains unconnected, the one with a damper from the vacuum transducer which supposedly goes to the automatic transmission vacuum modulator. When I plug this line with my finger, the engine stops.

Injector crush washer centers missing? 300TD '85

A couple of months ago I replaced my injectors with new crush washers. Now, after a compression test & valve adjustment the centers of two of the washers were missing (and one was broken, about to fall out!) The injectors were torqued with a true torque wrench to the right amount. Where did those centers go? Did they simply disintegrate like happened in my '78 diesel VW or are they destroying my engine? Unfortunately I also have a new noise at certain RPMs and when shutting down.

616 617 Diesel exhuast manifold nuts

I recently replaced my exhaust manifold on my 617.951 diesel and couldn't find new copper locking nuts anywhere so I reused the old ones with red thread lock. It's been about five months since then and I noticed a little oil around the front of the gasket, I checked the front nut that I can get to and it was loose enough that I could turn it with my fingers.
My question is, where can I find new locking nuts and what is correct torque for these nuts? My Chilton manual said 18-21 ft lbs but that doesn't seem very tight. Thanks for your help

1982 300 cd Crank Pulley Failure Sheared Bolts

Lost power steering and thought that the belt had simply broken. Instead found that the belt had come off. In any event started the car again to a most annoying racket. Upon looking at the crank pulley assembly noticed that it was awry. Figured I would start by removing the belts and ordered a new set and the belt replacement sourcelet.

engine stumbles on acceleration Still 1983 300 CDTd

I noticed a slight "stumble"(for lack of a better word)when accelerating from a stop on slight inclines and by the end of the week it became worse doing it when accelerating from any incline and up into higher RPM. But I still had plenty of power. So I put in new Monark injectors, a valve job, new fuel filters and a Purge. Still have the stumble at lower RPM but has tons of power after the tun up. I have no problem hitting 80 at the end of the on ramp. Any idea's of where to look next? Could the fuel pump need something?
