Transmission / Suspension Specific Aid

'83 300TDT NeedleBearings in Filter

I recently put a used transmission into a friends car, and adjusted it according to the mercedessource manual with the mercedessource tools, etc.

The used unit I pulled was from a crunched car ( a good sign the car was being driven before arriving in the junkyard) the fluid was clean, didn't smell, as well as no metal in the pan. The number matched (722.315). It seemed like a good donor.

It was without a torque convertor, so we used her existing one — draining it prior to installation, etc.

When we first put the transmission in, it shifted WAY better than the old one ever did — which the friend had for about 10 years. Seemed like great news, and a successful transplant.

1985 300d front wheel bearings

Hi I replaced front wheel bearings and races as a set, used good quality parts. when trying to preload the bearings as stated in manual The nut tightened untill there was no more thread but the wheel still moved very freely. There did't seem to be any play. but it doesn't seem right. is there supposed to be a flat washer between the nut and outer bearing. There wasn't one but I remember seeing this on other cars

83 300SD trans slipping/flairing when cold

I replaced the modulator and adjusted the pressure to factory spec about 3 months ago when I first got the car. Also at the same time I replaced most of the vac hoses and connections under the hood. The trans seemed to shift pretty good for its age, with a very small 3-4 flair.

One night after getting off the interstate 3rd gear just didn't engage. After trying to limp home for a couple minutes, I got angry I just gave it gas and all of a sudden it shifted and worked. The next day I changed the trans fluid/filter and added some Lucas. Now first thing in the morning it slips VERY bad going into 3rd and has a VERY noticeable 3-4 flair. If you floor it all gears engage solid, but it seems like it doesn't want to downshift and it seems to be shifting early too.

'80 Wagon self leveling suspension question

Greetings,

I can hear some clunking with riding over bumps in the road. I read
Kent's SLS troubleshooting guide for some tips. All of the following
checked out: no leaks, fluid level good, pump working, sway bar links tight,
pulled an accumulator and seal good.

What isn't working is the manual operation of the leveling valve. I can
also see some cracks in the differential mount. The valve was replaced
1-2 yrs ago. I have a new mount, but stopped upon finding the valve was not
responding to manual operation. Any ideas/suggestion?

1984 300td wagon transmission reparable?

i am looking to purchase a 1984 300 td wagon that supposedly needs a new transmission...the owner says a month ago it was rocking, great acceleration and power, no signs of wear...then one day, going up hill, the transmission in an instant started having issues..she discovered the transmission fluid was almost all gone...she then added 4 quarts and overfilled it, drove on it for a couple of weeks and had all sorts of transmission issues...brought it to a mechanic who cleaned the fluid and adjusted the transmission and 3 weeks oast with it working ok...
