I visited some young hooligan friends in Portland over the weekend. Over the years they have been putting 240D flywheels from engines with manual trans. on 300 motors and converting them.
Hello. I'm trying to find a part number and/or supplier for a particular fuel hose on my 1972 220D. The hose runs from right near the primer pump up to the pre-filter (or in-line filter).
From a stop light as engine speed reachs 2000 RPM a taping or knocking can be heard. The sound remains thru 2400 RPM at which time it either quits or I cannot here it for road noise.
I have a mint '82 4-speed with 120k actual miles (3k mile oil
changes since new) that has a heavy metallic knock at idle (all cylinders) and less power than it should (max speed 80 mph). Items I've done: new injectors, valves carefully adjusted, compression check (330~360 psi all), new filters (all), 2 cans diesel purge...all with no effect on noise and low power. I'm thinking perhaps injection timing might be the problem but know nothing about how to check/adjust. Also, the car does not smoke much and has excellent emissions numbers. Any thoughts? Thanks so much for your input! Kurt
I have a strong running '80 240D(I occasionally drive 85mph when no one is looking!) I have seen a five speed manual transmission for it. Do you know what the ratios are? Who it work well with my differential? My main interest is reducing rpms at highway cruise speed.
I have an old 300td, and untill reacently have not really had much problems with the Brake system. I have had vacuum problems befor leading to Shifting and Locking Problems, and I fear that a NEW vacuum problem is now causing problems with my brakes.
