1979 300SD - Rear end CLUNK when turning ??
Two days ago, when over a bump and the car "creaked".
This morning, when I turn or take a curve, a big CLUNK-CLUNK-CLUNK from the rear the car.
What could it be?

Hello,
I'm getting a clunking noise in the front end when I go over bumps. I poked around underneath and couldn't find any play or wear anywhere, so I took it to a local shop. The mech said I've got a bad sway bar bushing, and it's "impossible" to get at. He also said it's not worth fixing since it's not dangerous as is. Is he right? Anyone else have a similar problem with this bushing? I'm considering going to another shop for a second opinion, since this could be a safety issue.
Thanks!
I removed my voltage regulator and when I took it out it looked like the attached image. Basically one brush at an angle and touching the other brush. I just put the new one it but after screwing the new one in I'm a bit confused as to how the old one got the one bent brush. Any ideas? Was it just a cheap part? There was no brand on it at all.
I guess this might get removed but images make it so much easier to show what is going on.

Found a disconnected blue wire near my battery. Can't figure out what it goes to. The previous owners installed an aftermarket radio so I'm wondering if it is from that or if this wire was disconnected from somewhere else. I'm having difficulty tracing it to figure where it is going. Any help is much appreciated. The wire comes through the firewall into the area near the battery and is blue.
