Sometimes when I turn the key nothing happens for asecond or until I wiggle the key a little. Most recently the turn of the did nothing except turn on dash ligts and accesories. After waiting 15 min or so it turned over instantly. Is my tumbler the likely cause or should I be looking elsewhere?
Oil consumption has appeared as an issue following the Christmas holidays. During this 2 week period, I drove very little. Following the holidays, I found oil consumption to be high. Initially 1.5 qts in the first 150 miles! Next oil top-off showed consumption down to 1.0 qt in same distance. Currrently, oil consumption has recovered to the historic 1 qt. per 1500 miles. Rear of car has oil mist grunge so I suspect it was going out tailpipe. No new external oil leaks. I suspect valve seals or a turbo seal though turbo boost has remained unchanged (max P and boost response). Comments?
Dear Sir or Madam,
Is there a reliable hand held code reader for my 1993 300TE Wagon, that you would recommend/sell. My local shop charges $75 just to read the codes. I am also looking for a good shop manual for my wagon. This is my first Mercedes, and I am very impressed by the ride, but there is no way I can afford the upkeep without doing the work myself. In less than a month I have spent $750 in getting the air mass flow sensor changed ($590 for the part that was supposedly OEM, and that is why it cost so much, was actually a Bosch component) and $450 for a new vacuum shift delay relay. $150 of that $1200 total was for the diagnostic read.
