'85 300TD charging system

Hello, I suspect I have a charging deficiency in my '85 300TD(230K miles). To-date I have replaced the brushes/regulator, belts, replaced dash light and cleaned bulb holder. Voltmeter testing at the battery shows 12.5 vdc at idle, 13.5 vdc at 3-4K rpm. The dash light will not light at all, but shows continuity from the multi-pin connector across the bulb circuit with holder in place. As far as symptoms go: I occasionally (once every six months or year) find that the battery is low and will not turn the starter. The climate control system does not react to any setting less than full on or full off and the heater motor takes a few minutes of driving to start blowing.

81 240D 3 Water Pumps In 6 Months

Hi--- I have an '81 240D fitted with the 2-tank Greasecar system. Don't do too much of my own work, but I'm using the 75 MPH Guide to keep Anna happy and healthy. So far, so good... but, I've gone through 3 water pumps in less than 10,000 miles. The 1st was the original, so I new that would happen. And it did at exactly 120,000. Had it replaced with a Bosch, which promptly failed. Had it replaced again with a German pump, the name eludes me. Well, this pump also failed and I'm having it replaced with a Mercedes pump. Fortunately, this is all warranty work.

Thanks and a suggestion

First off, i would like to offer my thanks and appreciation for your oasis in the desert of dealerships. You folks make the old adage," the only stupid question is the one you don't ask" a reality. You have to love these cars to do what we do and your commitment shines! Now...suggestion..the special tool that you offer for the removal of the 103 water pump is a godsend. you might however offer the tool with this stipulation...PAY ME WHAT IT IS WORTH AFTER YOU USE IT..you might be amazed at the return on that concept!!! Thanks again and continued success. Dan

Multi accessory electrical short

i have a frustrating situation with my 89 300sel. my #15 fuse is blown, and it will immediately blow if replaced. My seat belt warning light constantly flashes, cabin light will not come on when doors are opened. they can be turned on manually, and my central locking system is inoperative. I realize that I most likely have a positve short to ground. Any ideas about a good place to start looking? Do these three symptoms point to anything specific? Any and all assistance would be appreciated. Thanks Dan Hammond

Okay, so I bought a 1983 300D Turbodiesel. And now:

Hi all. New member as of today, and today I also picked up my 2nd Benz. I have some experience with my 1971 280S, but today, I bought my first diesel. The cars rather amazing overall, for a black on black leather car with original paint. One owner. 200K miles. A few little problems that I already see answers and/or parts for. Here's my concern. The car is amazingly slow from a stop to 10 or 20 MPH. Then it's decent, much like a gas car. I see an unusual "part", seemingly disconnected in the engine compartment. It's like a little frame with heavy coils inside of it. What is that part??? It seems to perform much better once it's warmed. I know NOTHING of it's history aside from a clean VIN check, one owner, 400 miles in the last 2 years and it was probably garaged.

84 300TD Wagon won't start parked on a hill

My '84 300TD Wagon won't start if parked facing uphill - even the SMALLEST of inclines actually. Doesn't seem to have a probably parked facing downhill. Because bleeding the injectors gets it to start, I'm assuming it's air "in the system". Is there something I can do about this or is it just because the car is old? Thanks.
