240D Standard Transmission Shifting Problem

Have a nice 1982 240D four-speed, standard sransmission (floor shifter) with about 140K miles on it. Recently experienced big problem with shifting from one gear to another. Thought it was a bad shifter and secured a replacement assembly unit which has been installed this past week. Have replaced all external bushings (except for white plastic bushing inside actual shifter unit)and everything appears to be tight...not loose. Can replace internal shifter box bushing but I don't think this is the problem.

240D biodiesel gel temp

I was running B100 bought from a local shop and it started to gel way earlier than I was led to expect: around 35F! My filters really got clogged. Now I'm down to about B50, but it's still a problem at around 30F. I know, I know: Stanadyne filter with heater-coil would help. In the meantime, what about additives or other techniques for melting those solids. This is key because the biodiesel may gel at one temperature but it doesn't necessarily melt again at a slightly higher temperature -- it needs help to melt. What if I bathe my filter and prefilter in kerosene for a while?

84 300SD trouble starting

having trouble starting. This is my first (not last) mercedes. Its an 84 300SD. Hot or cold does not seem to matter. When you've waited for the glow plug light to disengage and try to start it either will or won't. Some times it starts right up others you can wait up to ten minutes. The battery appears to be fully charged. I can hear the starter gear engage. I'm leaning towards the ignition. I don't know if this is a common or easily fixed situation? The car has 267,000 miles shes just getting broke in:). I appreciate anyones suggestions. thanks benzbear68

87 300SDL rocking at idle

Idle problem getting much worse.
Help if you can. My '87 6cylinder SDL is a little different than older models. However, my idle is driving me nuts. The car has been running great for years. Last month every once in a while when Hot the engine would Rock/Roll at idle. That idle problem got worse and worse. It is intermitent & used to only happen after the engine got to hot operating temp. Now it happens at all temps and is still intermittant. Sometimes it idles just beautifully. I've inspected the entire fuel system, replaced most of the hoses and clamps, replaced the fuel Pump. My IP is a little different than pre '87 Mercedes, so I don't have a dampner bolt and my ALDA looks different than older models.
Any suggestions on what to try and adjust?

617 Turbo diesel Low Power at low RPM

I have a 1982 W123 with about 240,000 miles. It runs great at normal highway speeds.
The problem(s) are first at low RPM it takes a lot to get the car going, it can be floored and barely start to move. The other day my wife parked on a hill and when leaving it took a long time for her to move. (transmission is good, just replaced) Power is excellent when rev's are up, it will actually chirp the tires when shifting gears.

Fixing Leaks (oil and coolant)1981 300cd

My 1981 300CD has some leaking issues. I have traced the coolant leak to the fact that the radiator has bulged along the upper edge and is leaking fluid under pressure from the joint between the tank and radiator.
Are these repairable? What else uses the same radiator or one close enough that I can cross reference to try to find a good used or inexpensive new rad?

1983 300D Just installed Optima 34R

A note on putting an Optima battery into a Mercedes. If you can dig up an Optima 34R instead of the standard 34, the posts will be in the correct position for the Mercedes cables. The battery comes with a couple of adapters. If you drill out the driver's side battery clamp stud and put a long bolt through the new hole, you can use the type 78 (looks like a 'C') adapter hold the battery in. You will need to add an insulator to the '+' cable as the OEM setup uses a cover on the battery.

1984 300SD smoke during Wide open Throttle (WOT)

Hey guys and gals.

1984 300SD
142k miles
I have had it about 8 months
I have changed both fuel filters and purged about 5 months ago.
It has a fairly fresh oil change and filter about 3 months and 3500 miles ago.

It starts and runs very easily and well.
It kicks down and shift correctly (sometimes a little jerk on upshirt but really minor)
All my vacuum stuff works

When I drive the car it start and warms up to 1/4 the way above 80deg on the temp gauge and stays there if it matters.
