It only happens sometimes in the first 5 min or so of driving on cold mornings. The accelorater gets stuck on the down position. My brakes hold me back before I drop the transmission into neutral. Obvious concern here, any suggesstions would be appreciated.
Hello, the reverse lights in my 84' 300D are not working, the bulbs are good and all other lights now work as intended, I'm thinking maybe something with the neutral safety switch.

I am replacing the front seal in a 1982 300d. I used the kit and the seal installed quite easily. The problem occurs with the install of the balancer. The two pins are not attached to the balancer on the 300D as it was in my 240D balancer. The problem is that even when I heat up the balancer to 300 degrees in a toaster oven, (it can be positioned for nearly a minute) the pins do not fit into the holes. Every time I try to insert them, they go in partially and then stop with most of the pin sticking out or on a angle.
I installed the Windshield Washer Squirter kit recently. The installation went well, once I figure out how to remove the old squirter nozzles. I now have the situation where the nozzles spray most of the washer fluid over the roof of the car. The driver's side nozzle, in particular, misses most of the left half of the windshield. Is there a way to adjust the spray pattern on these new nozzles?
Looking for opinions on the symptoms of this engine:
Oil consumption: 4 qt 900 miles
Lots of oil in air filter assembly
Oil leaking out of oil fill cap
Oil leaking out of manifold side valve cover bolts
Oil Pressure 7 lbs at full temp idle
Oil pressure 65 lbs at speed (60mph) warm
One con-rod knocking
At idle rod knock not real noticeable
Mileage unverifiable, but supposed to be around 90k
Whaddya think?

I Just Broke my Hood release cable. After I open the hood, can I cut the cable about three feet from the hood end, and reroute the shortened hood latch end over the left headlight? There I could make a loop in the end and kinda hide it on top of the light? I think I can remove the outer sheath and just use the wire to unlock the hood. Please comment on the feasability/drawbacks ..... thanks
