1975 300D Windshield Leak
The rubber seal around the windshield on my 1975 300D is leaking on both lower corners. The windshield is original and doesn't need to be replaced. Any tips on how to stop the leaks would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I just purchased the listed car. 160K. Runs fine. The car is currently on the rack at a local shop. Needs brakes. Slight pulse on hard stop. The front caliper bolts are seized. I am writing to ask if you know if the rotors will come off with the caliper in place once the pads are removed? It looks like a close fit but I thought I would ask. If not do you know any tricks to get the bolts out?
I have now tried to install two sending units with matching numbers in my 85 wagon, but they have both been about 1/4 inch too long. Was there more than one tank, one that was not as shallow as the other, available? It appeared as if one of the previous owners bent the tube on the old one to fit, so it would not hit the bottom of the tank. Can the sending unit be modified slightly to fit?
At about 30MPH a whirring sound starts from the back end. Volume and pitch increases with speed... independant of road conditions. The noise only accurs when the drivetrain is under load/acceleration. While under load (as on a long grade), down shifting does not affect volume or pitch.
No clunkiness. Tire tread wear is "normal". SLS is working properly.
Any thoughts? Pinion bearing...Drive Shaft support bearing? I do not have a ton of experience in this area.
Thanks in advance!
I would like to adjust my base idle up just a bit on my 1975 300D what's the best way to adjust?
Also, when I adjust the idle from the inside using the dash adjust knob, it seems to have an affect on the linkage making the trottle pedal a tad harder to depress, and it's not as smooth.
Any ideas or info would be appreciated, thanks.
On this 1980 300sd I have a square fuel tank that is bolted to the sides. Thers is no fuel sensor on the top of the tank. I can see all the way into the back and there is no sending unit. Where is the sending unit on these early 116 300sd's?
My stock tire size is 195/70 14 ~ 24.75 inch diameter. I was considering moving up to 205/75 14 ~ 26.1 inch diameter or 215/70 14 ~ 25.9. This would, in essence, give me the effect of an overall higher read end ratio. It feels as if the engine is revving more than it should at 65 - 70mph. Is this advisable? Also, what should the expected mile-per-gallon be for this year/model assuming everything is running correctly, and a conservative driving style? Thx, Bill
