A/C Comes on and off periodically

I have an 81 240D and when I turn on the A/C the compressor will kick in and it will blow really cold for a while only when the the analog dial is in the max-a/c position. However periodically it will kick on and off with no real reason behind it. I don't think it's the switch b/c moving it up and down does not fix the problem. It seems as though some part of the system decides its had enough and stops for a while. Anyone have a problem like this? Thanks.

Diesel ign. switch problems

I have never really understood, on our 123's, why I have to return the key all the way counter-clockwise if the engine fails to start. Strange voodoo with the vacuum shut-off? A peculiarly odd tuetonic accomodation for the hearing-impaired? What prevents it from functioning. Every now and then I have trouble with the switch stopping before the crank position, no matter what I do. Is this something that popping the cylinder and spraying WD40 would help? It is so intermittent that I could go for weeks without it happening again, or I could get stuck at the drive-up tomorrow. Thoughts?

Water in 73 450SE

Hi All: I have some water accumulating in two places, I cannot find the source of either. In the trunk, behind the driver side wheel well. The gaskets on doors and trunk are all new. There is a small seam in the rear window gasket. Also, there is water draining from the car, under the driver side front door. I cannot see anywhere that this could be coming from. 1994 300se running problem!!!

I have a 1994 300se which has suddenly developed a problem, when you start the car in the morning no problems whithin a few minutes when car is warm and you put load on the engine it feels like it is running out of fuel, then will cut out, but when you leave it for 20mins or so it will be ok for another 5 mins put it into gear it will start to die out, any ideas would be apreciated thanks John

89 300SE starting issues

I have 1989 300se that was running quite fine until recently. I had just gotten off the freeway and came to a stoplight. when I turned the corner and accelerated the car suddenly ceased to speed up and sputtered like it was runnin out of gas. Well with over half a tank of gas I knew it was not the problem. The car died at the next lite and would not restart. Tow truck driver suggested fuel pump. Well I replaced pump, filter , and the thign next to that(accumulator?) Now, car cranks but it seems like I am not getting spark at the plug nor fuel at the injector .

560SL starting issues

My 89 560 sl suddenly began to skip while running low rpm. Parked the car. Now it will not crank at all. I am getting fire. I poured a little fuel into top of engine. Still did not crank. Went kinda like da..da..da..dadada..da.da.dadada.da..da. Maybe one noteworthy observation is it has progressively been harder to start. I am not very good with tools but this is my car and I want to learn to repair problems. I have ordered a reair manual. Thanks for any response. Ronnie

heater stuck on

I am trying to help somebody fix the problem with their 300DT heater which is stuck on. Hot air blows into the car when the engine warms up regardless of the climate control temperature setting. The individual with the problem car states that he has rebuilt the monovalve and the problem existed even before he touched it. What is the most likely cause of this? Stuck air mixing door in the ducts somewhere?
