1985 3000TD Bypass the Coolant Heat Exchanger?
When running diesel fuel should the coolant heat exchanger be by-passed with valving so the diesel fuel is not heated? My current setup heats fuel to 140 - 150F at the IP when looped mode is not used.

I have a '84 300TD wagon. Last year I took the car in to get the A/C checked out as it was not working when I purchased the car. They checked the lines and it seemed to hold pressure just fine. They replaced the valve with one for R134 and put two cans in, and at once the compressor kicked on and started blowing cold air. The aux fan has never worked but that didn't seem to matter much unless I was standing still and it would be a little less cool. Everything has been working fine for the last year, until recently.
Was wondering how to perform diesel purge on my car which has a wvo system installed by greasecar. I can't seem to determine which is the incoming diesel line.
Any help would be well appreciated.
Thanks
Moving the down the highway my daily 1985 300SD w/' 225k blows cold. However, when idling the blower is strong pushing only warm air. Need advice on what I need to look at / DYI replace parts / or schedule an appointment with MB mechanic.
Thanks

Greetings:
I share Kent's pholosophy of prevention. I have removed the center console where the shifter is and the radio, climate console and ashtray to refinish the wood. While all that is out, what things do you recommend that I change out while I have easier access inside the dash? BTW I am in the process of replacing the climate control motor brushes and the gauge cluster lights as Kent suggested but was wondering if there were other items?
Thanks,
John Sebastian
1985 300D, 123, 4 door sedan - only a little over 100.0 k on it. Thought I would change the engine mounts - owned old Mercedes diesels for over 35 years. This car is new to me - put about 8.0 k on it.
What is with the engine mounts! It has been tough to get the inside Allen bolt loose - I was finally able to get loose the one on the passenger side but the drivers side is driving me nuts - too close a tolerance with the bracket that holds the engine shock damper and is also the main weight bearing member that fastens to the engine mount.
bought a rough running 1982 300d turbo. Previous owner thought it was the injectors and replaced them with junkyard injectors and didn't use washers! I adjusted the valves as per Kent's instructions with his wrenches. I did a compression test - good compression in all cylinders. Installed MS rebuilt injectors and torqued to specs. Installed dampner bolt. Glow plugs work fine. Engine starts eaisly but runs very rough untill it warms up, then it runs great! I don't see any leaks of fuel. I am really stuck. I have an identical 300d that has run fine for the past 4 years!
