W116, Body and Interior Specific Aid

on the '78 300D I just picked up, only the defrost works. The mix/hi/low do not work. Anything I should be checking for? I would really like to have at least low to work as well so I don't always have to blast the defrost (loud) when I need heat. comments/suggestions?

I've heard that 77 300D is not a strong car to begin with, but mine actually slows down and barely makes it up the standard Washington state hills. At the bottom of a hill I could be going 40mph, and by the time I get to the top it slows down to as slow as 25mph!! So far I replaced both fuel filters, air filter, checked compression, compression is right about 330 PSI in all 5 cylinders, which as I understand is pretty good for this engine (or is it?). What else should I check or do to fix this? Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Roman

I bought a 1981 300D, and replaced the old transmission with a working used one. At this time, the car runs smoothly, however the transmission kicks down into a lower gear too often/frequently. Instead of going into 3rd from 4th, it drops to 2nd, etc... It delays upshifting, lifting off the accellorator helps... Also: The dash lights, climate control, and radio do not work but the fuses seem fine... Any Ideas! Thanks!
