Diesel cigar shaped fuel hose

Hello forum, I have just purchased a 1981 300D - non turbo, 100,000 original miles and I am hoping to run Biodiesel, not svo/wvo. In looking over the fuel lines, my mechanic told me that the thick bloated looking line immediately before the canister fuel filter was that shape as a "damper". I haven't seen any kind of chem resistant hose in that odd shape. Is there a specific replacement for this piece or will other hoses serve the same function? Thanks, Dave

1969 300SEL won't pass emissions.

The Carbon monoxide was way too high, so I took it to an import specialist and he's saying that I need a new fuel injector pump. It's not the fuel pump, but the injector pump. The mechanic said that these are not very adjustable and I need a new one - which he said costs around $1600. Yikes! Does anyone know any tricks to adjust these so I don't have to buy a new one? Or maybe the problem with the emissions is somewhere else?

240D Auto Transmission Shifts Prematurely After Valve Adjustment?

I have a 240D 1981 and I recently performed a valve adjustment. The adjustment seems to have gone as planned but when I began driving it I noticed decreased power due to the fact that the tranny was shifting too early on all gears now. I may have 1st of all done the adjustment poorly or may have messed up some vacuum lines to the tranmission shifting system which I don't understand too well. Anyone have any hints?

alternator on '77 300D - not charging battery - or battery prob?

It appears that the alternator on my '77 300D is not charging the battery anymore, or the battery is not charging via the alternator. I took my alternator up the other day to Schucks, they tested it and said it was fine. After driving a while, the battery-dependent electronics show that the battery is dying. Last night while my 300D was running, I disconnected the battery leads from the battery and hooked my multi-meter up to the neg and pos wire connections (not on the battery). The voltage was in the range of 10.xx to 11.xx volts. Now I'm no mechanic, but shouldn't it be higher?
