This WUR is very simple in design and has no internal diaphrams. It is also quite short compared to the other types. No instructions are included, but they are readily available on the internet by doing some google searches.

Consider replacing the hub if it is severely rusted due to road salt. You may not be able to get the new bearing to fit correctly. Also, the inside splines do wear if the GL is driven hard or run off-road regularly.
This is what you call a "big hongking" wheel bearing. It weighs close to 4 lbs! Replacement is a very expensive repair if you have a shop do it, but if you are an intermediate DIY mechanic, you CAN do it yourself with the steering knuckle on the vehicle, if you have the right tools.

If you mess around with older Mercedes sooner or later you will be faced with having to remove a transmission. This can occur when you discover your transmission is leaking out the front pump seals, the torque converter flex plate has failed, or the transmission itself has gone bad.
If you want to get as much of the old transmission fluid out of the valve body, torque converter, oil cooler, and lines, then you will need to do more than just drain the pan and the torque converter ( if it even has a drain plug). Watch the video below for more details.

This DIY job is very important for a number of reasons. Changing the fluid and the filter every 40k to 50k will extend the life of your power steering pump and steering rack. Changing out the reservoir will allow you to replace the seal between the tank and the pump.
In this 25-minute, very detailed instructional video, Kent will show you how to use his special tool to remove the guide pins holding the top timing chain guide rails in the cylinder heads.
This is a must-have tool if you own a 1970 to 1991 M116 or M117 V8 engine. It will also work on older six-cylinder gas and four and 5-cylinder engines from the 1960s up through 1985. Note: The included video instructions only cover removal and installation of the pin.

Kent's instructions for replacing the real seal in this style pump. Make sure your pump is all aluminum ZF pump, or this seal will not work. Total run time: 14 minutes. An 8-inch C-clamp will be required to complete the installation.
A BIG C-clamp like this is pretty handy to have around your shop, but it is a must if you plan to open up your 1980s-era ZF aluminum power steering pump.
Of course, you want to change this if you find oil leaking out the bottom onto your drive belt, but it can also leak internally, allowing coolant to get into your engine oil or vice versa. 272273
