1983 300D MELTED "C" FUSE

AN IMAGE OF THIS PROBLEM IS AVAILABLE AT http://www.gosla.com/EBAYPICS/melted.jpg

My car has been sitting for several months now as I've done various work to its engine. The moment came to start the car and it wouldn't start. The horn wouldn't sound. Some lights worked. I believe the problem is that the battery went dead while it was off the road. It's an old battery anyway and I'm about to drop a new optima into it.

While trying to find out why it wouldn't start, I checked the fuse box. All aluminum fuses were corroded. I already have the new fuse kit that is sold here - just didn't get around to putting them in.

617 turbo valve stem seal differences?

Hi all; Well, I screwed up. I was just about to install the valve cover after replacing all 10 rubber valve seals and a valve adjustment and realized that I installed the seals on piston #3 backwards... I don't want to go back and do the job over now, if I can get away with it. I planned on changing the chain with the next valve adjustment, and I wouldn't mind getting another valve seal kit and re-doing the job then. Anyway, what would the consequences be of "leaving it as it is" for the next 12,000 miles or so?

84 300d hard/won't start warm

I just got the car. its a 1984 300d The engine sounds and drives very good; smooth and quiet, scored really great on emissions, %3 opacity. The problem: when warm, if I shut it off for more than a few seconds it won't start, like it's not getting air; egr maybe? If I wait for about 15 minutes, It will then fire just fine with a bump of the key. I figured out, through necessity, that I could repeatadly bump the key to get a start after 5 or 10 bumps, but had very little power with that method, (lack of turbo?). this sound familiar to anyone? thanks first post

82 300D Idling too fast

Hi Kent, Brook here...(of the Larry Mans clan)... 1982 Turbo W123 My car (Sherman) is idling way too fast these days. I took it into my MB shop at closing time the other day, so they didn't have much time to diagnose but we did notice that the "arms" that one pulls on from the engine to "rev" the engine (say, during a diesel purge) are sticking somewhat and not allowing the engine to relax into a normal idle. My mechanic sprayed some lubricant on the arm "joints" hoping that would release them a bit and yet after a few days, it's still happening.

1985 300D loss of power after 20-25 mins

My wife has been driving our 85 the 35 mile trip to work everyday and has had the same problem twice now in the last couple days. After about 25 mins of driving at 70 mph, the car would lose power like a clogged fuel filter. I drove it today and it started to do the same thing after about 30 mins of driving when I floored it up a steep hill near our house at about 55mph. The fuel filters are both fresh with a new priming pump and the air filter is clean. The loss of power is temporary. The car feels fine again after slowing down or stopping.
