Drowned my 300td Help!

Hi: I Live in NE New York & we got hit with flash flooding last Thur. To make a long story short, I drove into a "puddle" that was halfway up my door panel when the car stopped. It didn't sit long as I got pushed out, but... The air filter was soaking wet & water poured out of the turbo when I took the "U" thing off. The starter was fried & now "finally" replaced after many frustrating hours to get 2 bolts out. Anyway, I still can't get it started. Anybody have any ideas of the sequence of diagnosis/repair I should follow that would be applicable to my unsuccessful attempt at turning my wagon into a submarine? Thanks & Happy Thanksgiving!

280sl 1969 engine stops when getting hot

Hi, i have a 1969 280 sl that has been garaged the last 10 years and now i try to put it back on the street. i have good fire and the car starts really good when cold then runs for about 1 minute then stops. When you turn the ignition key on again it starts for 1 second then stops. The only way i can get it to go again for more then 1 second is the next morning.Does anyone knows how to solve this problem.

How can I get my diesel to start better?

Answer:  Reasons for hard starting can be related to a worn out engine, poor fuel delivery, and weak or failed glow plugs.  If you know your glow plug relay fuse is ok and your glow plugs are working properly, then It is very important that you first adjust your valves (up to 1985 except 201 190D), do a complete diesel purge, and then replace all your fuel filters BEFORE doing anything else. There are a number of issues that can make your diesel hard to start.  Over the new few weeks we expand on this topic.  Feel free to jump in and post your questions or comments related to this subject here.
