Cruise control not working. No accceleration, nothing.
I have just purchased a 300td. All is good except the speedometer makes a ticking/scraping noise until I reach speeds upto 60+. The needle doesn't move in a smooth motion but more like the second hand of a battery operated wall clock. Also the speedometer is off 10mph or so. Do I need to replace the cable or the whole unit?
Thanks.
I'm looking at an '85 300D with low miles but the emergency brake cable is snapped and there is an ABS warning light that comes on.
I know you have a booklet about the emergency brake system, but is replacement of the cable covered in the manual? How much of a "bear" is it to replace the cable from the cabin to the Y?
Since there is an ABS warning light, how hard is it to replace the wheel sensor AND since there is one sensor for each front wheel on this model (I believe) how do you assure which sensor is failing? Do you carry the sensors in stock?
Thanks,
1979 300SD suddenly lost power this afternoon ... the battery will not hold a charge.
The Internal Alternator Voltage Regulator was replaced.
Afterwards, for a few minutes, there was in intermittent "screeching sound" which has not reoccurred.
The old regulator, a Bosch unit that was made in Brazil look tired to say the least. Were the original regulators etc all made in Brazil?
When turning the ignition key, the battery warning light stays on in the dash cluster ... but none of the other lights work.
92' 300d with 2.5 L turbo. Has 230,000 miles and used to have first gear but now starts in second gear. I'm curious if this might be a common problem or a simple fix. Automatic transmission fluid level is correct according to owners manual. Thanks for your help and amazing website.

One drivers side vacuum check valve yellow three way. Vacuum source and two outlets.
The other check valve adjacent is yellow two way. Vacuum source and one outlet.
What is the yellow two way replacement?
I recently purchased a 1980 G wagon with a 5-cyl. turbo diesel engine. But this car is missing the oil pressure gauge; it is apparently a conversion from gas to diesel engine, not done very professionally.
I purchased the car with a broken engine and installed a new one already, but want to add an oil-pressure gauge.
Any suggestion where to find one that might fit?

I recently had my shop replace the ignition switch. Now the heater does not go off after the key is removed. I can't recall if this was the how it worked before, but it doesn't seem right. Before I return to the shop, I'd like to confirm this. Also, what can they possibly have done to make this happen? My understanding is that the wiring just plugs into the back of the switch. There doesn't seem much room for error.
