79 W123 300D shock replacement- a DIY job?
Is replacing the shocks on my 79 W123 300D a DIY job? If so, is there anything I need to pay particular attention to? Thanks

85 300dt KEYED 12volt?
Hi,
I'm installing the glow plug override kit on my 85 300dt. Wondering a good source of keyed power for the switch is? I'm almost thinking it'd just be easier to use a direct battery lead to avoid hacking away my harnesses, but if you know of an easy one I'd sure use it!

1987 300E Will Not Run
About 2 months ago my wife took the car to exercise class and when she came out to come home and started the car it backfired and would not re-start. I checked it out the following day and though it didn't backfire it would not run for more than 1/2 a second. I had the vehicle towed to my house and have periodically tried to start it with the same result. It will fire, run for about 1/2 a second than shut off. It will continue to do that until I depress the accelerator pedal then it won't start at all.

1985 300TD - Mysterious Intermittent Starting Problem
9 times out of 10 my car starts immediately no problem. 1 time out of 10 there is a click and then nothing. After several attempts I can get the car started and then everything is OK for a couple more days...
Here's the mystery. I had my shop check the solenoid (OK) and replace the ignition switch using the kit sold on this site. Everything was fine for a couple of days, then the same problem occurred. We can almost live with the problem but I'm concerned that one day we won't be able to start it at all.

82 300SD turn signal stalk replace now no horn
Replaced turn signal stalk for my 1982 300sd I got from you. I now have no horn. I cannot figure out were the two brass rings make ground contact. Have I a missing contact plate or not connected the harnass properly?

1973 220 Diesel Cold Weather Starting
Hi Kent et al.,
I'm considering purchasing a '73 220D. I won't be able to plug in a block heater in my apartment parking lot.
The winters here in Rochester, NY can get pretty cold. Do you think I can get away without using one? Or should I look for a gasoline vehicle instead?
