Think age here. Many of these shifters on our classic Mercedes are starting to get loose inside the shifter, and when the old bushings fail, you will get a lot of slop side to side when you shift between gears. Note: These bushings are different from the bushing that go on the shift levers.
Good used hood star as shown. Excellent star but few very small nicks in the base. All chrome is good.

The reports of BlueTec engine emissions failures are numerous. Failed NOX sensors and emission fluid injectors are often traced back to using old or cheap DEF fluid. I know it is easy to be enticed by the cheap price.
This clip is unique to these engines. The picture below will show you where it is attached to the fluid outlet tube on the tank. This is a genuine Mercedes part.

These are the critical seals that go on the D-jetronic fuel injectors. If they leak air, your engine with idle high, start poorly and run lean, which can damage the pistons. We recommend you replace these whenever you remove and replace the injectors.

This magnetic inline filter can give additional life to the power steering fluid on the M112 and M113 engines ( V6 and V8 from 1998 to 2006). The filter has 3/8 inch nipples and can accept a 3/8 inch hose ( size normally found in the return hoses on M112 and M113 engines.
