123 107 126 201 124 722.3x and 722.4x Transmission Modulator O-ring Seal

For re-sealing green and black modulators on most 1981 to 1993 models.

If your modulator is working ok, but leaking transmission fluid, you may only need to replace the inexpensive oring ( o ring ). You do have to be careful when removing the modulator from the transmission. For instructions (available separately) see related products below.

$1.90

1982 to 1995 Auto Transmission Dipstick Tube Seal

Fits all models with the 722.315 and most 722.4 transmissions - see list below

This is becoming one of the common transmission fluid leaks on these older automatics. If the trans is leaking fluid in small puddles while the car sits for longer periods suspect this seal. You can be fooled thinking it is coming from the pan gasket.

Troubleshooting Older Diesel Automatic Transmission Shift Problems - On Demand Video

Knowing where each component is located and what it does is the start of solving externally caused shift problems

I don't think there is any owner out there who has owned a 1978 to 1993 diesel automatic for any length of time and who has not had some sort of shift problem with the transmission. Maybe it was just a little jerk or a slipping shift. Maybe the rear end clunked hard when you came to a stop.

$98.00

123 126 124 Chassis with 722.4x Transmission - Upgraded BLACK Modulator Valve

Fits late 1985 123 and other models listed in description from 1986 to 1993 - Check the color match

If you are experiencing very hard or less than perfect shifts, a failed transmission modulator could be the problem. New Genuine Mercedes part. This unit is an upgrade over the original. It has a better thrust pin design which is less prone to cause pressure variations in cold weather.

722.3 722.4 B1 Piston Removal and Installation Tool

Custom-made in our shop. Fast and easy. Half the price of other tools available.

The B1 piston assembly is not easy to remove and then reinstall. Because of the length of the two big springs behind the cover, it takes a tool that has a long throw.

$65.00

722.3 722.4 B2 Seal/Sleeve and Front Pump Removal Tool Kit

Slide hammer is the best way to go, but it will need modified attachments

We modified this slide hammer puller set in our shop so it will work in removing two key components in the 722.3 and 722.4 automatic transmissions. Getting the B2 piston and sleeve out of the case can be a real bear without this tool. With it, it comes out quickly and easily.

$20.00

722.3 Transmission Rear Shaft Nut Removal Socket.

Needed for rear seal replacement or transmission disassembly

You will need a 12-point DEEP socket. That is the only thing that will work. Most impact sockets are six-sided. The best way to remove this nut is with a big impact wrench with the transmission locked in park. So you will need a quality heavy-duty socket. This one is made in the U.S.A.

$162.50

722.3 Complete Overhaul Gasket and Seat Kit

We believe this is the most complete and highest quality kit you can purchase for the price. Elring Brand

Take a very close look at the picture. These are all the gaskets and seals you will need to replace if you open up your 722.3 transmission that was produced from 1981 to 1995 for all 6 and 8 cylinder passengers cars that had a displacement of 3.0 liters of more.

$219.99

722.3 722.4 Upgraded B2 Piston Replacement Kit

These are GENUINE MERCEDES parts except for the cover o-ring. All parts need to be replaced at the same time.

We are learning, as others are, that these parts are becoming a HIGH preventative maintenance item on these old transmissions. A broken or binding B2 piston causes many shifting problems, and as Kent found on his 300E, it destroyed the transmission.

These will work in any automatic transmission from 1968 up to 2004 including the 722.6 transmission. The 7G 722.9 has magnets in it.

Kent is a firm believer in using these strong magnets inside a transmission pan to help extend its useful life.

They should be placed toward the rear of the pan as shown in the picture below.

$59.00

1981 to 1995 722.3 722.4 722.5 New Transmission Pan Replacement w/ Magnets

Fits many models during that period. See complete list below. Late W123, Late R107, W126, W201, W124, R129 and W140

These transmission pans get "out of shape" due to over-torquing the bolts. That crushes the stops (see below), and when that happens, it is very hard to get the pan seal not to leak. Your best option if you are doing a transmission service is to replace the pan.
