Many owners neglect replacing the engine coolant thermostat. It just slowly wears out over time. If you notice your engine temperature running low or you car taking a long time to heat up inside these are the first signs your thermostat has failed.
Fits 115 116 123 and 126 chassis diesel engines, non turbo and turbo, to 1985. This includes the 220D, 240D, 300D 300TD wagon and 300D/300SD turbo engines. Most thermostats only last a few years and should be changed for optimal diesel performance.
This is a brand new thermostat housing gasket. Fits all 5 cylinder diesel engines from 1978 to 1985 including the 300SD 300D 300CD and 300TD.
When replacing the thermostat in your order diesel you may end up fitting a lot of corrosion. This kit will help you make sure you do not have any leaks when you install the new thermostat and will prevent corrosion of the housing bolts in the future.
Failure is more common and happens more often with these thermostats due to the internal temperature probe that goes down through the center of the housing. It is much better to replace this as a preventative measure to prevent engine overheating.

This is not a difficult part to replace, but it does require you to remove the belt and one pulley. A good time to replace this part is at the 80 to 100K inspection interval since you will already be removing / replacing the belt and pulleys.

Kent calls this his "flowglow" because it is a straight flow-through fuel heater that uses a glow plug to produce the heat. Since the glow plug is submerged in vegetable oil fuel, it is very efficient and will last a long time.
This OEM thermostat from another engine fits perfectly in the OM617 diesel engine. It does require a special rubber seal, which we include here.

Very good used thermostat housing next as shown. (What you see it what you get!) This is one of the nicest we have seen. No pitting on the nipple end that connects to the bottom radiator hose. Old thermostat thrown in but not guaranteed.
If your engine is just running hot, it may be due to a plugged radiator or possibly a stuck thermostat. If your engine is just losing coolant it could be a leak in the water pump, radiator or hoses.
Why is this so important? It is primarily due to the age of these cars now and the fact that lurking problems can be hidden from visual inspection. There is not ONE diesel that Kent has looked at in the last five years that does not need this service! Even ones with under 150,000 original miles.
When removing the upper radiator hose for engine service, such as replacing the electronic thermostat or the seal on the back side of the oil cooler, you will have to remove the upper radiator hose.
The MOST little known and often overlooked part on the OM617 engine! And when it fails it can affect your engine cooling temp.

This kit fits ALL 116, 123 and 126 4 and 5 cylinder diesels, 616 and 617 designation. This is one of the most common oil leaks on the older Mercedes diesels from 1977 to 1985. It is often found at the gasket between the engine block and the oil filter housing.

These are all maintenance issues that a lot of shops miss. If you want your M272 to break down or lose performance after 100K, then just ignore these items. We are talking prevention here - not waiting until something breaks to fix it! This is a DIY SUPER KIT.
Most of the older 450 engine fan clutches are still original on most of the older unrestored V8 models from 1970 to 1980. If you are having problems with your 450 V8 running hot check the friction in your clutch. They are often worn out as they seem to never get changed.
New water pump and gasket as shown. Plan to change the short hose and thermostat at the same time. Inspect v-belts and change if cracked.
Four new Continental belts with detailed video instructions. You should consider replacing the following at the same time, as they are commonly due to age and neglect.
If you have one belt that is going bad, replace them all simultaneously. You don't want to have to do this job again in the near future.
This gasket set includes the complete valve cover rubber seals as well as the 12 rubber seals for the bolts. If you are going to change the valve cover gasket you will need to replace the bolt seals as well or you will regret it!
You can also use this as a "single tank conversion" by changing the hose routing, removing one valve, and not using the extra pump. Watch the video below. Kent will explain in detail how this is installed.

You do the throttle body cleaning service, and you might be surprised at the results. When does this ever get done? I have experienced smoother idle, less stumbling, more power and better fuel economy from just doing this easy and inexpensive service. Plan to replace this seal every 80K miles
ONLY ONE REMAINS. This panel fits under the steering wheel to the right (see picture below). You will have to bend the tabs, drill and provide sheet metal screws to install. NO instructions included.
This is one part that is very subject to corrosion and leaks around the base. When the actual part fails, included our new stainless bolts that won't corrode with instructions on how to carefully get the old corroded bolts out.
