heat-shield washer stuck!

76 MB 240D [115]: I've removed the injectors and replaced the nozzles but I can't get the heat-shield washer out of 1 of the chambers. I've applied WD40, 'Liquid Wrench', diesel fuel, and biodiesel in an attempt to lubricate the chamber; I've tried prying the washer out with several instruments [which worked with 1 of the others that was also stuck], but I've only succeeded in mangling the washer itself, which remains stuck to the bottom. Any ideas about cleaning agents to use or other techniques to try?

'76 300D will not reverse

Automatic transmission. When I drop it into reverse the engine just revs as if it were in neutral. Park and drive are just fine, drove it 50 miles to home after the security guard pushed me out of the parking space. I've got two different mechanics saying I need a new transmission, but a guest staying at my inn says it might just need a reverse pin adjustment. Can anyone explain what this is to me? Or has anyone else out there had this problem? Thanks! Nicole

72 220d stc

i have a 72 220d want to put stc, your ready to install stc is mostly for 123,you state 115 chassis is difficult because of battery.can one put filter-vfm on passenger side of engine bay and route longer hose to ip pump etc with insulation on hose.is that the major stumbling block? do you recommend specific insulation on hose? also does veg oil remaining in engine at shutdown cause coking with cold start in the morning?

A/C compressor, '76 240D [115 chassis]

One thing I've never tried to mess with myself is A/C. The mechanic who recently checked out my non-functional system said the compressor was ruined because a previous owner had converted it from R12 to R134. This didn't surprise me, based on what I've read on these forums, but what did was his categorical remark that replacing it with a used or rebuilt compressor wouldn't do. That struck me as unrealistic and perhaps also just mistaken. Can anyone with experience with used or rebuilt compressors confirm or deny whether these are a viable option on old Mercedes?

Remove marine bulb style hand pump?

Installed the auxillary fuel pump and it works greats. My question: I also have a marine style bulb hand pump installed, when I bypassed the stock hand primer pump last year. Should I remove it? Can it handle the pressure the auxillary pump produces? The bulb pump seems pretty plump but it's holding, no leaks. Will it eventually burst or can I just leave it alone for now? I'm planning on a 700 mile road trip next weekend and would like to wait to replace it if I can. I've ran about 150 miles since I've installed the auxillary fuel pump and no problems. Thanks, Keith
