83 300D turbo ATF fluid in vacuum lines

My 83 300D Turbo recently developed some quirks such as: surging/lurching while driving, not shifting properly(rpms getting way too high), and not engaging when put in gear. When looking under the hood, I happened to notice pink fluid flowing through a couple of the clear vacuum lines. I assume this to be ATF fluid. I began testing vacuum at various points, and found that the vacuum device on the drivers side of the transmission didn't hold vacuum, there were a couple of other connections not holding vacuum as well including one on the vacuum device mounted near the IP.

74 115 230.4 how to remove the fender?

hello
i've been trying to remove the front fender from my 230 and it will not move. I have removed all visible bolts like those along the wing under the bonnet and the front. I have also loosned 2 that are at the back of the wheel arch. As well I removed the trim from the windscreen and loosned 1 bolt at the top of the door opening. Maybe I just don't know which way to pull to get it to move?

1974 Shortcoming: Dashboard Instruments?

We just bought a 1974 280C from the second owner.
Jack, reluctantly sold his "baby", because, now entering his late 70's, hip replacements have made entering and sitting painful for him. He broke the map pocket on the driver's side swinging his legs into the seat.
The speedometer's 76000 miles appear to be reasonably accurate... tires mounted in 2001 were recorded @ 71000mi (and there aren't that many miles to drive on a small island like this one), etc. He has kept the coupe immaculate.
Is the dashboard instrumentation a weaklink on the W114?
The VDO quartz clock is non-functioning. Jack velcro-attached a tiny digital clock to keep time.

300sd engine swap...parts replacement recommendations?

I am changing the engine in my 82 300sd (due to low compression on one of
the cylinders/poor starting in ontario winters). I want to be sure I do
everything that should be done while the engine is out of the car.
I have ordered the front main seal and a bunch of other stuff.........but
I see no mention or guides available for the rear main seal. I'm not sure
if the engine being transplanted should have a new rear main seal, or if it is an easy job....... or not.

Anyone with any experience or info on this?

middle dash int lights 83 300dt

I have a 84 300dt when I removed the face plate over the heater ac controls (to replace the bulb in the temp wheel) I found one extra bulb socket not in use total of five. one for temp wheel, two and three for vent control, #4 for fan control and one extra in the back not in use all have small 1.2 volt bulb.ps, light in shifter on and working. Any idea what extra socket is for? Question two all four switches across the top of center dash do not light up. (rear light switch, antenna ,sunroof, rear defrost) rear def lights up when activated.

1977 300D coolant leak

Last year my parents bought me a 1977 240d with a 300d engine. I love the car because of its old style and drove it for about 4 months before pools of coolant started to appear under my car. I am wanting to fix my car now that my dad recently passed away and i need to know if anyone could help me by finding out what the cause is. I have had people tell me its a freeze plug behind the engine. All can tell is that its leaking between the engine and transmission. if anyone could answer this for me i would appreciate it and i would know that i must purchase a freeze plug.

1990 190e 2.6 running very rough,

car was not starting, replaced battery, it would turn but not start, replaced fuel filter, still would not start. replaced overload relay 10A fuse, car finally started, but runs very rough and uneven. acceleration is at a minimum, then will race momentarily , then will die back down to a rough idle. can anyone tell me whats going on and what else i can try? i also had the engine replaced a little over a year ago.
