1984 300D front pipe replacement
Hi all, hope everyone is healthy and enjoying the new year. I am in the middle of replacing the front pipe on my 1984 300D Turbodiesel. This is the pipe that has some accordion flex incorporated into it and runs from the back of the turbo to the pipe of the resonator situated just under the passenger footwell. My question: Is the seal ring or "donut" the same type on both ends of this pipe secton?
Thanks for any help.

1984 300 D fuel reserve light.
Hi all. My fuel guage works with the exception of the "low fuel light". When I go to start the car the light shows so I know the bulb is good. It just does'nt light when the fuel gets low to the point where it should come on. Can I take the sending unit out of the tank and see if the contacts that would trigger the light are some how being impeded? Can I perhaps clean the contacts rather than spring for a new sending unit. I can live without the light but will try an easy cheap fix.
Thanks Mike G.

1984 300D Noisy Turbo
I have a strange noise that sounds like a fan with bad bearings. I hear it when the car is under load (going up hill) or just hard acceleration. Sounds to me like it is coming from the turbo. Is there any typical recomended areas to inspect that would cause this such as the EGR valve or intake manifold for this car. Also is there a cleaning solution that can be directly sprayed into the Turbo?

Trans X for a well transmission ??
I read with interest your assessment on the use of Trans X. I just ordered a filter kit for my 1982 240D automatic. I have faithfully serviced the transmission over my 19 year ownership of the car. I have dealt with an occasional vacuum leak and modulator adjustment. The car has 230K and aside from a slight premature upshift to 4th gear the car runs and shifts fine.

1977 240d - missing heat shields?
I am replacing the injectors in my 77 240d with rebuilt injectors bought from this site. After removing the old injectors I did not find any heat shields in the pre-chamber, or at least it seems there are none. There is certainly nothing that can be picked out using the little angle pick sent with the socket kit.
Is it possible that the car did not have heat shields? Or am I just not trying hard enough to get the old ones out?
Here is a link to a picture showing one of the pre-chambers. Can someone tell whether I am looking at the bottom of the chamber?
