You must drive this star bit into the head of the damaged bolt with a hammer, but it will hold. The bolt will then need to be replaced. Watch the video below as Kent will explain how it works.

On the average W116 300SD nine out of ten times we find these mounts rotten, soft, or collapsed. It is often just due to the age of the rubber. Have you noticed your engine is shaking more at idle? Maybe you are noticing new vibrations that were not there before.
This kit will work on all 115, 116, 123 and 126 chassis diesels from 1969 to 1987. Almost every old Mercedes diesel I see needs to have the motor mounts changed. If you have a mechanic do it for you it will cost an arm and a leg.

Removing the front rubber engine mounts requires getting under the car and going up inside a hole in the subframe to remove the main bolt. And it can be a bear! I don't know who they hired to tighten these at the factory, but he must have been a brute.
It is hard to find the right motor mount bolts for the 116 diesels. They have to be good hard steel and just the right length. We have provided locking washers to install with the bolts so they will not loosen up.
For years I just used old shop rags to catch the drips - until I found this! What a great solution. Watch the video below for more details

This unique tool is cut and welded right here in our shop to give you the box end depth you need to get the top motor mount bolt loose. A rubber handle serves as a grip, so you can use a pry bar to get extra torque on the bolt. Watch the YouTube video below for a full demonstration.
Set of 2 rubber motor mounts. These mounts fit TURBO DIESEL 300CD, 300D, 300SD, 300SDL, 300TD, and gas V8 380SE, 380SEC, 380SEL, 420SEL, 500SEC, 500SEL, 560SEC, 560SEL. These are high failure rubber parts on older cars.
The one with the cutout is used on the left side. These have No cracks. Not perfect, but very usable. If you leave this off, your rubber mount will fail much quicker. Always avoid oil or diesel getting on your rubber mounts!
