Indications that your seal needs replacing are tears in the lip and no resistance when you close your trunk. If you trunk snaps shut too easily it means the seal has collapsed and is no longer sealing properly.
This 12 page instructional downloadable booklet by Kent Bergsma covers brake bleeding equipment and procedures for all model Mercedes from the mid 1950s to the mid 1990s. This covers chassis Ponton 110 111 112 113 108 109 114 115 116 107 116 123 126 201 and 124.
During his years of working on diesel engines, Kent has learned a few things about glow plugs. Some he learned the easy way and others he learned by “pain and suffering.” If misunderstood or improperly maintained, glow plugs can be the “achilles heal” of a diesel.
Book 1 explains how a series pre-glow system works and how to properly test it using inexpensive electrical testing equipment. If your glow plugs are not working you need to find the cause BEFORE you start buying parts. This is something you can do yourself.
If a car has sat outside in the elements for long periods and has not been washed or waxed in months there are some things you need to do BEFORE you apply the buffer to the body and the final wax to the paint. This is where you will need some real "elbow grease."
If your engine is just running hot, it may be due to a plugged radiator or possibly a stuck thermostat. If your engine is just losing coolant it could be a leak in the water pump, radiator or hoses.
In this video Kent will show you how to rid your car of those less than attractive rock chips and other paint flaws from door dings and general scratches. He will walk you through the paint and supplies you will need and then demonstrate step-by-step using a 2000 S500 and a 2000 E320 wagon.
In this video Kent explains some of the key reasons for poor battery contact and loss of voltage to important electrical components. If you want your later model Mercedes to run a peak performance pay attention to your battery.
When Kent set out to find a good fender cover for his own use he and Kaia decided to make it available to our customers. Who doesn't like a good soft fender cover that stays in place? We know red shows the grease more than black but you have to admit these are a knockout!
Do you have a manual or power sunroof that is working poorly or maybe not at all? Does it move slowly in the morning, but when it heats up during the day it works just fine? Do you have to assist it by hand to get it fully opened or closed?
Running badly means poor performance. It happens sooner or later to EVERY diesel owner. The word "performance" is often used to describe how well a diesel engine runs once started. The principles discussed will cover all Mercedes diesels from the mid 1950s to the mid 1990s.
A diesel compression test is an extremely important engine diagnostic procedure. It should be done on any diesel you are planning to purchase. More than any other test, it can tell you if you are purchasing a healthy engine.
33 page digital PDF manual. Applies to all 110 115 116 123 126 201 124 140 diesels from 1961 to 1994. From my many years of working professionally on Mercedes diesels I have learned fuel injectors are the single most neglected maintenance item. I believe there are a number of reasons for this.
5 page digital PDF Instructions include multiple pictures to assist you in completing the job. Clear and detailed with tips and tricks from Kent Bergsma's years of experience.
We also highly recomend the Ultimate Flexible Brake Hose tool to complete the job. Look below to view.
Older Mercedes have a very effective emergency brake design which was virtually the same on all models from the late 1960s right up through the early 1990s. The actuating mechanisms are all mechanical and are controlled by a Y cable under the car.
Have you been having electrical problems in your older Mercedes? Maybe you have taken the fuse box cover off and wiggled a few fuses and it has solved the problem for a while. You probably noticed corrosion on the tips of the old aluminum fuses.
Applies to 190D, 200D, 220D, 240D, 300D, 300CD, 300TD and 300SD (Not for 1984 to 1985 190D) Downloadable PDF eBook 3 explains how to properly remove and replace the glow plugs in the early diesel engines up to 1985.
In a perfect world your diesel would not leak a drop of fluid. Unfortunately, with the age of your vehicle, it may not be economically possible to eliminate every leak. Sometimes you may just have to live with some leaks.
This instruction booklet is meant to be an introduction to simple rust repairs. I have also written a manual that goes into more advanced repairs using Miracle Paint to replace larger rotted sections of sheet metal.
Dirko sealing compound is permanently elastic, cold vulcanizing, silicone-rubber based. Can be used for connecting joints, cylinder head, crankcase, oil sump, timing case, thermostat, water pump, transmission, axles, differential, radiator, chassis.
General-purpose, clear RTV indoor/outdoor sealant. Seals, bonds, repairs, mends and secures glass, metal, plastics, fabric, vinyl, weather stripping and vinyl tops. Protects and repairs electrical wiring. May be applied to horizontal or vertical surfaces. Waterproof and flexible.
Sil-Glyde is a silicone based brake lubricant recommended for the entire brake assembly and is compatible with rubber. It is moisture-proof and heat resistant to +600 degrees F, which means it won't burn-off like other brake noise products.
Cold Weld sets up in 15 minutes and has a test proven strength greater than 3000 psi after 16 hours. Resistant to most shop fluids including: water, diesel, fuel, gasoline, antifreeze, hydraulic fluids, motor oil, and transmission fluids. Can be drilled, filed, sanded, machined and painted.
This is a must-have if you have a prized Benz or any car you don't drive often!! If you let any of your cars sit for long periods ( generally over 30 days) without driving them, you can ruin your battery, especially if you let it go completely dead.
Fits all DIESEL ENGINE exhaust systems for 115, 116, 123, 126, 124 and 201 chassis from 1968 to 1995. If you are looking for a more robust exhaust hanger this is it! It is a stronger and more secure exhaust hanger than the standard round rubber type.
This is a very handy smaller torque wrench to have in your toolbox. Perfect for spark plugs. It will do fuel injectors but is not quite big enough to torque wheel lug bolts. Range is 5 to 80-foot pounds. The case will be black rather than red.
Nice set of pick tools with plastic handles. They have strong steel tips which allow for more prying and twisting with less tendency to bend the tips as you would with dental pick tools. Note: Quarter is not included! Shown for size reference only
Final drive seal (45 x 65 x 11mm)
Fits Mercedes Benz:
Replace those nuts that keep loosening up with nylock metric nuts that just won't come off. Inside the door panel on the window regulators. Around the engine compartment. Air filter housing nuts. etc. etc.
If you already have or are willing to buy a 5 pound slide hammer this special threaded fitting will allow you to PULL the pre-chamber from the cylinder head once you have removed the collar nut and the glow plug ( a collar nut removal tool is required look below to learn more).
I have used a lot of different clamping tools over the years to prevent fluids from leaking out when removing coolant, fuel, or brake fluid hoses. Most work ok. Some are hard to use in tight places. Many do not stop every last drip from coming out of the hose.
This set of 5 pick tools have very thin and sharp points. Best set Kent has found to remove orings in hard to get to locations. The variety of angles available allows you to get into almost anywhere to remove and o-ring, sealing ring or other small part.
If you are going to work on your diesel fuel injectors, you are going to need a torque wrench. If you are going to tighten your alloy wheel lug bolts properly, you should use a torque wrench. In fact, if you do your own work, you should have a 1/2-inch clicker torque wrench in your toolbox.
Works on 110, 115, 116, 123, 201, 126 and 124 diesel engines 200D 220D 240D 300D 300CD 300TD 300SD 190D 300SDL. We have found that over half of the deep sockets we test will not go over some of the longer injectors.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. This line will not fit the 601 602 and 603 diesel engines produced from 1984 to 1995. If you order in error this part is not returnable. See applicable models and years in subtitle. We had this new straight hard line specially manufactured for us in Germany.
This right angle screwdriver is great for working in tight places - like removing speakers, voltage regulators, distributor caps, etc.
This is one of Kent's favorite tools. Lets you reach into tight places - very long nose curved pliers with teeth - like hemostat. With the locking handles it is amazing what this clamp / pliers can hold - and the tight places it can get into!
January 2019 notice: This filter is now available only in very limited quantities and may not be readily available in the future. This is why we are not able to include it in our full fluid flush kit ( See related products below) This is an often neglected filter.
WARNING: IF YOU ORDER THE WRONG ONE IT IS NOT RETURNABLE.
